ITF Commences Training Of 500 Unemployed Youth On Skill Acquisition

The Acting Director-General / Chief Executive officer of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), has flagged-off training of 500 unemployed youth on skills acquisition and vocational training in 18 states of Nigeria.

Onuoha made this known during the flag-off ceremony of 5th phase of National Industrial skills development programme, NISDP, at the Jos Area office.

Represented by Mrs Lola Badamasi, he reiterated the need for states and federal government to diversify the economy and less us our over dependent on oil through a design program to recruit youth toward reposition the country.

He drummed support on the devastating effect of the collapse of the economy due to over reliance on crude oil exports.

Onuoha stated that, ITF evaluate and certify vocational skills acquired apprenticeships, craftsmen and technicians in collaboration with relevant organizations.

He said to promote and encourage the acquisition of skills in industry and commerce with a view to generate to meet the needs of the private and public sectors of the economy.

The ITF boss maintained that they are there to provide training for skills in management, technical and entrepreneurship development in the public and private sectors of the country economics.

According to him, they are training standards in all aspects of the economy and are also monitoring adherence and administer on behalf of government, the students. Industrial work experience scheme (SEWES).

He stressed that government has to put motion to attract foreign investors by creating enabling environment for indigenous businesses to improve on the quality of their product.

Onuoha noted that Plateau state was chosen because of the weather and train youths on skills program.

The Jos Area office Manager Mr. Sarpiya Yoila solicited the cooperation of your Excellency Governor Simon Lalong to grant the Area office opportunity to intervene in critical sectors of the state economy such as solid mineral development; tourism and sharpening the skills of civil servants for improve productivity.

While declaring the occasion opened, Governor Simon Lalong said, the program will contribute toward sustainable growth of the state.

He promised to provide enabling environment for investors to come into Plateau state in boosting income and revenue generation.
