Days ago, a rival news from the media firmaments fingered and allegedly anointed Hon.Barr. Uche Onyeagucha, a former Secretary to the State Government, SSG, in the defunct Chief Emeka Ihedioha’s government in Imo State, has been appointed as the new Legal Counsel to the Indigenous People Of Biafra , IPOB, as well as the Lega Adviser to the Military Wing of the Eastern Security Network , ESN.
The group, in a release signed by its Spokesperson, Emma Powerful , said Onyeagocha’s appointment was based on his long-standing commitment and outstanding performances in the Biafran race and struggle before he proceeded to take up the appointment as the Secretary to the Government of Imo State under Rt.Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, from May 2019 to January 2020.
The release reads: In view of your long-standing commitment and outstanding performance in all strata of the Society, particularly as the former National Legal Adviser of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta ,MEND, before you proceeded on your sabbatical leave to serve Imo State, the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra , IPOB, has approved your appointment as its National Legal Adviser.
“While we congratulate you, we hopeful that you will continue to bring to bear, your wealth of legal experiences into the struggle to liberate our people”.
Onyeagucha, a former member of the Federal House of Representatives for Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West Constituency and SSG to Former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, studied at the University of Calabar as well as Rivers State University of Science and Technology where he graduated with degrees in History and Law respectively.
Onyeagucha who was a former APC and APGA Chieftain has also held the position of Special Adviser on Policy and Strategic Matters to the Imo State Government.
Meanwhile, the former Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Hon.Uche Onyeagucha, has responded to the rival news against him, which he described as falsehood and unfounded but yet paddled by some of his political detractors who does not want his progress.
According to the Press Statement:”Re: Uche Onyeagucha appointed as IPOB/ESN Legal Adviser”.
My attention has been drawn to the above story circulating in the media. The authors of the statement must have considered the publication a blackmail.
They are wrong and uninformed. In my legal carrier, I have offered legal services to MASSOB, MOSSOP and Niger Delta militants. As a Human Rights and Pro Democracy Lawyer, I reserve the right to give Legal Services to whomsoever I care, IPOB/ESN inclusive.
He revealed that as at today, the IPOB/ESN have not requested for his legal services, even as he stated without equivocation that if IPOB/ESN dare to request his Legal Services, that he will consider it an honour and accept the offer.
“I am sure that IPOB/ESN, Ala-Igbo and Nigeria will be better for it”, the Legal Expert submitted.
