Irigwe Nation President Condemns Killing Of 21 Persons By Fulani Herdsmen In Ncha Village Of Plateau

The President of Irigwe Nation Mr Chinge Ayuba Dodo and his secretary ,Mr John Gospel Gana have condemned with shock the horrific and cold-blooded massacre of their people at Ncha in Miango District, Bassa L.G.A, Plateau State by Fulani herdsmen.

In their press statement made available to our correspondent on Friday the Irigwe President stressed the need for cordial relationship between the Fulani herders and their people.

According to him ,”this incidence happened in the early hours of Friday 8th September, 2017. For the records, this mayhem targeted the aged, women and children in addition to defenseless youths.

He said at least   21 people were confirmed dead and several others injured.

Dodo maintained that this incidence is coming barely 2 days after a Joint Special Task Force (STF) – Fulani – Irigwe peace building meeting; and a day after a Daily Trust Newspaper report on a complaint by Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) was lodged with the Police, raises a lot of questions.

He cautioned that the complaint by MACBAN was in respect of the criminal murder of one Abubakar Wada at Dan-Tanko, Miango. As a sign of concern and commitment to resolving the matter, the Fulani and the Irigwe had resolved to co-operate with the Police and other security agencies.

It was in the light of this commitment that certain arrests were made and handed over to the Police for questioning, he added.

He noted that, this line of communication also formed the basis for other resolutions arrived at in the joint meeting with the STF.

In view of the foregoing, we hereby wish to re-affirm our commitment to all lawful processes aimed at bringing lasting peace.

He pointed out that therefore; “let it be on record that the Irigwe have not breached the terms of any agreement with the Fulani on the one hand, nor between our two (2) people and the security agencies on the other to warrant the dastardly act of the Fulani herdsmen.

“We therefore call on the Fulani’s to make a similar open commitment to peace; and on the security agencies to speedily bring to book perpetrators of this heinous crime”, the statement explains.

As is in our character, we hereby reiterate our unflinching commitment to peace.

Meanwhile the outgoing Commissioner of Police, in Plateau State, CP Peter Ogunyanwo has expressed dismay over the ongoing killing being recorded mated on the good people of Ancha, Miango village of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The Commissioner told Journalists, Friday evening that the attackers who are  suspected to be Fulani’s unreached terror on the community  in the early hours of Friday leaving over nineteen (19) persons dead with five injured person.

He gives details of the casualty figures as follows: seven (7) males, six (6) male and six (6) children.

He said the attack is suspected to be reprisal in nature owning to the report made available to the police over the death of a Fulani boy who was declared missing on the 30th day of August just to be found dead, and buried with our head.

He described it as uncalled for, for any person to take laws into his hands, even as he blamed the attackers to have carried a reprisal when the matter was with the Police and five suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime.

He said investigation into the killing is ongoing since and the detachment of police mobile force as well as state criminal investigation department and intelligent bureau, SIB were handy to unravel the situations.

Stressing that on visit to the scene of the genocide eleven (11) expanded shell of 7.6 mm ammunition and one (live ammunitions were recovered.

He appealed to citizens of the area to remain calm and allow the enduring peace in the state to be sustained.

Meanwhile, citizens of the area said the incident was orchestrated and given high backing by those who have sworn to use such barbaric and coward route to subject the people to perpetual slavery which their forefathers fought.

It would be recalled that Plateau state for quite some time now has suffered various degree of attacks from the hands of the e enemies;  ln Jol ward of Riyom Local Government of the State, the indigenous people have been sacked and are today refugees in their own land.

In Bokkos Local Government of the State, the people of Manguna district live in constant fear of the known.

Bokkos has thus far lost three (3) ranking traditional rulers and one (1) chieftaincy holder among many others who have been killed by the known, Talk more about the genocide which took place some years back in Dogo Na Hawa village of Jos South Local Government Area.
