Yakubu Busari
The National President of Irigwe Youth Development Association in North-Central Nigeria, Mr. Ayuba Chinge has expressed concern that the country’s journey to democracy is full of poor leadership, mismanagement of resources.
Chinge said government is measure by the campaign promises given out be as may either at the federal or state level, we are judging every performance from the way of promises and manifesto presented to the masses during their electioneering campaign time as far as Plateau man is concerned and where the locality was I hail the poor man, the ordinary man is still yet to see the impact or the dividends of democracy.
As far as governance is a concern, the major priority of government is the protection of lives and property of the citizens, it would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 in one of his campaign slogan, the promise he made to Nigerians is to eradicate the Boko Haram sects and all manner of insecurity challenges will normalize but upon his emergence instead of decimating them completely, we are seeing another dimension of insecurity coming to play.
The killer Fulani herdsmen that are now ravaging villages terrorizing communities in the middle belt region especially in Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba and Southern Kaduna state with some parts of kebbi state, he said citizens lives are not secured and Nigerians in their thousands are dying from banditry in the northeast.
So to me, I blame the government when I say government, I mean the government in Nigeria. Nowadays, we are talking about commercial farming where should they allow cattle to be roaming about and then do mechanization.
We are talking about attackers, the blame should be entirely on the government and when I talk about government is not only the APC government but since the independence what have they done even as the human population is on the increase so the fault is bad governance.
Ayuba said yes he is aware of security personnel deploy to Bassa LGA but funny enough, you think two to three days ago after the interview with Mr. Governor the Irigwe community were visited again around fast food joint where five people were brutally killed, so it’s for Governor coming on air to me when there is another pocket of attacks in Irigwe community and another forum he is telling the world that government has sent a helicopter, whenever the truth is absent, you will continue to lie to cover up some previous truth but I thank God this is global information age where we don’t have to wait for the government to come and tell us that there is an attack in this and that village. The world is a global village.
According to him, with the incessant Boko Haram in the North East and Fulani herdsmen in the middle belt of Nigeria and we have an issue of kidnapping that just rose into an unimaginable dimension, so to me the government of APC has not done well.
However, in term of infrastructural development visa, the kind of revenue being generated today narrowing it to Plateau state, His Excellency’s Governor Lalong has attempted touching the education here in Jos North, the streets light project for the common man, they need food and security, roads, any other thing shall is secondary.
He disclosed that the APC government is more of the continuation of other government either the NPN or PDP because you would notice a typical Nigerian politician they are not ashamed jumping from one political party to another.
Adding he said there is no difference between the APC government and that of the PDP most of them who were in PDP are the same people who today are in APC, the name change but the attitudes haven’t change. These politicians people have forgotten that it is the character of the person that is a concern, not the name of the party.
Chinge explained that Nigerian politicians are just messing up with the rights of Nigerians, since independence our structure of democracy hasn’t improve so we still have a long way to go.
As an Irigwe man, our people are faced with a situation were they are waylaid, our people are killed, maimed and ambushed and we have a government every day saying the perpetrators would be brought to book without action.
He added the killing in Irigwe community due to lack of proper planning, these attackers are land grabbers so that they can have enough grazing field because Irigwe arable land is fertile, we have land with water flow throughput the season.
Ayuba chinge pointed out that urbanization is also another serious threat because the land now is occupied with people building houses.
