Irigwe, Herders Clash, Leaves 12 Persons Dead, Many Injured In Bassa LGA
At least no fewer than 12 persons have died following a fresh harvest of killings between the Irigwe the ethnic natives of Miango and the Fulani of Bassa Local Government Council of Plateau State where there has been incessant attacks and destruction of lives and properties.
The President of Jon Jam Youth, Alh Adamu Saidu said, it is unfortunate that the outbreak of crises still lingers in Bassa where some of the youth went for grazing and are still missing while some of their corpses were recovered inside the bush.
He said, enough is enough of the massacre of their herders in Irigwe land, we shall revenge the death of six of youth and one is still missing inside the bush.
Speaking to our correspondent at the scene of the incident at Dutse, Adamu decried the magnitude of heinous crime against humanity, we the Fulani are peaceful people and with what my eyes saw is very sad.
He, however, stressed that they have lost cows and children to the Irigwe farmers, herders clash and they’re calling on the federal government to intervene by bringing the situation under control.
Adamu reiterated that act of destruction of lives and properties is still going on secretly, calling on the security agencies to ensure that culprits are arrested and brought to book.
The clashes started in the southern part of when a native of Irigwe based in Kishosh hamlet was attacked and killed by Fulani herdsmen that sparked -off the reprisals attack which has now extended to Dutse
Another community leader Chinge Dodo Ayuba condemned the killings in Miango where his people who are into irrigation farming and herders would opening graze inside and the Federal government remains silent.
He maintained that the major cause of the latest is an attack of Irigwe youth by Mabo. Bari later died in the hospital and that degenerated into hatred and reprisal attack.
The alleged herders ambushed and killed by unknown gunmen and no fewer than hundreds of cows were allegedly rustled with five dead, 3 missing while several hospitalized receiving treatment at Evangel Hospital, Jankwanu Jos.
The clash occurred at Mai-Yanga about three days ago with both sides recording casualties of death and injuries.
Speaking to the leadership of Irigwe and Fulani over the unfortunate incident of upheaval, they provided diverse opinions regarding the brutality in Bassa LGA.
It was gathered that one Mr.John Gya, a native of Rigwe who was reported missing in Jos has been found in Abuja. He was kidnapped and dumped under a bridge in Abuja.
