Internet Fraud: EFCC Arrests Four Chinese Nationals, 101 Others In Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said its personnel arrested four Chinese and 101 other suspects for internet fraud in Abuja.

In a statement on Friday, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, said the suspects comprising 67 males and 38 females were allegedly involved in hotel review job scam targeting hotels in Europe.

The suspects were arrested in a business apartment, in the Gudu area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Thursday.

“In its ongoing efforts to clean the nation of internet fraud and other acts of corruption, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested four Chinese and 101 Nigerians in a business apartment in the Gudu axis of Abuja.

“They were arrested on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

“The suspects, comprising 67 males (including four Chinese) and 38 females were allegedly involved in a hotel review job scam targeting victims and hotels in Europe and other parts of the world,” it read.

EFCC spokesman added that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigations.

Sources reported that 113 Chinese nationals and others were arrested, in November, in Jabi area of Abuja by Nigeria Police operatives for high-level cybercrimes and hacking.

According to the Police Spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, arrested with the Chinese were Malaysians and some other Nigerians.

The operation was conducted through a coordinated raid on a building at the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Abuja, where the suspects were reportedly using computers and other sophisticated devices to facilitate criminal activities,” Adejobi said.
