INEC Begins Distributions Of Governorship, Assembly Elections Sensitive Materials In Bauchi State

Ahead of March 18th governorship and state Assembly elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the distribution of sensitive materials in Bauchi State.

The INEC assured the residents of the state of the distribution of the election materials across the twenty (20) local government areas in the State.

Our correspondent reports that the items distributed were Form EC 8B 1 and Ballot Papers for the governorship and state Assembly elections in the State.

Alh Mohammed B. Nura who is the Residents Electoral Commissioner (REC) gives the assurance during the distributions of the sensitive materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Wednesday in Bauchi, saying that today we’re here to distribute the sensitive materials in the custody of the CBN to the various LGAs across the State.

Nura added that last time the Commission had distributed the items on Thursday and they reached the local government headquarters on the same day in all the 20 LGA, where they’ve Friday and Saturday morning to escalate to the polling units.

He further said the main reason for this early commencement of the distributions of the materials is to have enough time to see if there is any shortfall in the items in the boxes and for us to how we can report the same to the headquarters for early replacement of the remaining shortfall items before the Saturday’s exercise on the 18th March 2023.

According to Alhaji Nura the Residents Electoral Commisioner said that the other time the items were distributed at the INEC office, but this time the Commission decided to do the exercise here at CBN because the items are not much like that of the Presidential elections.

In an Interview with some of the stakeholders comprising of party agents, securities, as well as elections observers during the distribution of the items, expressed satisfaction and confidence with the overall process.
