Imo Zoo Management Decries Invasion Of Land By Host Community, Nekede

The leadership, authority and management of  Imo State Zoo situated at old Nekede in Owerri West LGA, Imo State, have appeared to live in the fear of the unknown over alleged encroachment of the area by the host community

 

One of the management staff of the zoo who would not want his name in  print,revealed to newsmen has it that the host community of the said  zoo has concluded plans to reclaim their land on the grounds that they got court order to reclaim the land where the zoo is located.

 

The staff, who  wonders how a land acquired by the Imo State Government during the time of Late Lt-Col.Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, as the then Eastern Governor of Nigeria.

 

The staff, however appealed with the State Government ably led Gov.Emeka Ihedioha, to wade into the crisis with a view of ascertaining the actual reason behind the sudden claim of the land by the host community.

 

However, It will be recalled that the land where the zoo is located was acquired by the government of Eastern Nigeria in 1996.

 

Further recalled that the governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, appointed Imo Attorney General, in the person of, Chief Ndukwe Nnawuchi, as the Committee Chairman on Imo State Zoo,  following his pledged to invest in the zoo to make it more lucrative to the state, and as to boast the Internally Generated Revenue of the state as well.
