Imo Rural Projects: Uzodinma Doles Out N540 Million For 27 IMC Chairmen

  • As SA On LGA And Chieftaincy Affairs Office Takes  N27m as processing and lobbying Fees

The Imo State Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodinma, as part of his leadership styles and pattern, a few days ago in Owerri, doled out the whopping sum of N540 million to the 27 Interim Management Committee, IMC, Chairmen of the Local Government Councils of the state.

According to news sources, “The money which the 27 IMC LG Chairmen have already received the sum of N20 million each for rural projects and other community developments”.

It was however gathered that the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon.Mrs.Rubby Emele, has pocketed the sum of N27 million as what was tagged as processing fees and lobbying tips.

The fees which were paid as a payment to the Special Adviser on Local Government Affairs for services rendered.

An IMC Chairman amongst the 27 of them who warned his name not to be mentioned on this report said, “Do not quote me. Our Governor, Sen. Uzodinma is a good man. He knows the plights of the people. He gave us #20 million each for rural projects in our various Local Government Areas. We are working towards putting the money into work. For me, I am poised to deliver. To whom much is given, much is highly expected”.

Another IMC Chairmen from Owerri Zone who confirmed the money doled out to them by the Governor to 27 of them, said, “We are expected to use the money for visible projects for the benefits and interests of our own immediate electorates/voters in our various Local Government Councils”.

The Chairman, in his words, described the leadership acumen of Governor Uzodinma as apt following the current economic plights of the people especially those at the hinterlands.

“For me, my Local Government must feel the positive impacts of the money released by our Shared Prosperity Governor”, he submitted.

It could be recalled that the Governor last year immediately after the rainy season, made some money available to the same IMC Chairmen of the 27 LGA’s for grading of all the linking rural roads in the Local Government Councils of the state.

Meanwhile, all efforts tried to connect the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Emele to get her own version of the news proved worthless as her telephone rang unconnected at the time of filing this report.

Note that the released whooping sum of N540m could be said to be a farewell largesse to the IMC Chairmen who according to information is getting ready to vacate their offices as Chairmen in no distant time.

Some newsmomgers from across media houses in Imo State have disclosed that the celebrity IMC Chairmen have overstayed in offices as allowed by the Governor.

Group of Imolites have fingered the Governor of over pampering the IMC Chairmen alleging that they have overstayed as LG IMC bosses in the state.

The Group also ceased the opportunity to call on the Governor to conduct Local Government polls for the sake of dividends of democracy instead of leading the state with unconstitutional setup IMC’s, SOLAS’s and Transition Committees.
