  • Says it parades a better candidate
  • As PDP is described as a dying party
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said that it will not compromise the candidature of her governorship candidate Capt Emmanuel Ihenacho to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any other party in the April 11 2015 governorship election in Imo State.
In a press release issued by the chairman of the party in the state Barr. Peter Ezeobi, the party said that it parades the best governorship candidate in Imo State and was sure of securing victory at the polls.
‘APGA is an Igbo based party that has mass appeal. It has won all the elections in Imo state since its existence in the state. Rather, the PDP has always denied us our victory. In 2011, we finally proved it again. If you look at our governorship candidate in the state today, he is the best among all who are in the race. We are sure of victory at the polls because the masses are with us. I have said it many times but the rumour has continued to come up. Our party has not and will not subjugate or compromise Capt Ihenacho’s candidature…’.
Stating further, the party boss lamented that his party had shown enough good faith to the PDP by voting its presidential candidate for two consecutive times without getting any of such reciprocal gesture from the party. He cited the instance of the just concluded National Assembly election where he alleged that the PDP used violence and thugs to rig the election thereby betraying the support APGA gave the in the presidential election party by denying most of APGA candidates that allegedly won several seats in the Nation Assembly their victory.
He rather called on the PDP to support his party in the on-coming election to recover its lost mandate from Governor Rochas Okorocha.
When contacted, the Media aide to Capt. Ihenacho Barr. Emperor Iwuala while also debunking the rumour of his principal’s support for the PDP said that the outcome of the governorship election in Imo State in the year 2011 and the recent lost of the presidency to the All Progressives Congress (APC) had shown that the PDP had lost the support of the masses both in the state and the nation.
‘In 2011, Imo people sacked the PDP from Douglas House. Four years after, the nation has finally sacked the PDP from Aso Rock. That shows how unpopular the party is as at present. APGA is an Igbo based party and everybody knows that Capt Ihenacho is the most competent and credible governorship candidate in the state.  Therefore, how can the best go for the inferior? We even hear that one of the PDP’s biggest chieftains in the state who is a senator is dumping PDP. Rather, the support should be the other way round. Capt Ihenacho will prosecute his election and that of other APGA candidates to victory. The only option the PDP now has is to support APGA’ he concluded.
