As part of encouraging hospitality and tourism in the State, the Wife of the Imo State Governor, Ugonneoma Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, last Tuesday, 20th Nov.2018, officially opened her “Royal Spring Hotels & Apartment”, located at Akachi Area off Wetheral -Aba Road Owerri.
Madam Okorocha who was extolled, exalted and commended for making Imolites and her husband proud, in her address expressed delight to make one of her dreams a huge reality.
The Imo First Lady while speaking described herself as a hardworking woman with strong passion in hospitality and management before she bagged her first and second degrees on Hotel/Catherine Management in the Universities.
She however called and appealed on Imolites and Nigerians for constant and regular patronage.
Mrs.Okorocha said the major reasons that prompted her to engage fully into hotel business is to compliment the effort of her husband to sustain Rochas Foundation College of Africa, RFCA, where some African Children are being taken care of their welfare.
“I am hospitality personified, I am not just a business woman rather I am a trader. I started as a pity trader in Jos. I got the opportunity to compliment the efforts of my husband. I have different hotels in Abuja, Jos and some other places. God gave me the opportunity to put smiles on the faces of the people especially the widows, orphanage, indigent women, the poorest of the poor and the downtrodden as part of my service to humanity”,Nneoma submitted.
She therefore promised to continue to promote hospitality and tourism in Imo State in particular, South-east and in Nigeria in general.
Introducing the Hotels/Apartment, the Admin./Human Resources Manager, of the Hotel, Mr. Emeka Nwankwere, commended Nneoma Nkechi for establishing a new business of hospitality in Imo State.
He therefore assured all their customers of effective security, better relaxation and high level of comfort. He disclosed that his priority would be adequate and constant training of their staff for a better service.
Adding his voice, the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, expressed satisfaction to have Nneoma as companion because of her positive thinking.
“My wife, Nkechi met me when I was poor into poverty over 28 years ago in Jos. We were eating biscuit born as meat in the past due to lack of money. She ably stood with by me even when I have nothing to offer as a man. She is a patient woman. I loved her”, he said.
“Any woman who opened her mouth to tell me that she love me, I will slap her anywhere in the world. She was in charge of the Lamonde Hotels in Nigeria as her own business. She is a very hardworking business woman. But I do not know her worst. I don’t even know her financial account but she knows mine. Women are very terrible on that, but why?”, the Governor hinted.
“I am not aware of the Royal Spring Hotels Apartment until few weeks ago.
I have shared all my properties for my children. They are all business owners”, he noted.
The Imo State Governor maintained that Owerri is the fastest growing in Nigeria.
Speaking on politics, the Governor However charged political merchants mostly those contesting for Governorship in the State to first of all show Imolites any of their investment here in Imo before coming to become Governor.
He more so charged electorates to ask those contesting to Govern Imo State in 2019 to show their investments.
“I have succeeded in making sure that all my children invested here in Imo.
I am making my money for the support of the Widow. I have great compassion for the poorest of the poor.
Governor Okorocha promised sponsor the wedding ceremony of about 1000 youths who have sincerely found their companions as husbands and wives in the state even as he called on interested Imo bachelors and spinsters to go and register at the office of the Imo State Commissioner for Happiness/Purpose Fulfillment.
“Acquiring and acquisition of too much wealth is foolishness, stupidity and meaningless”,Rochas restated.
“I believe in Imo State, please believe also in Imo State with me”,Okorocha stated.
The Governor, Rochas Okorocha has assured the Imo State Head of Service, Mr. Calistus Ekenze, that very soon; he would be confirmed as Deputy Governor of Imo State.
The opening ceremony was graced and honored by the 54 African Queens who were in the state for the 2018/2019 Miss University Africa Beauty Pageant Competition courtesy of the Imo State Commissioner for Tourism, Hon.Dr.Cyril Odinaka Okafor, which according him said the pageant is aimed at fighting against indecent dressing amongst our African girls, promoting culture, language and tradition of Africa.
