Imo Assembly Moves Against Hike Of Prices

The Imo State House of Assembly led the Speaker, Rt.Hon.Chiji Collins, moved a motion to revoke all the contracts for the construction of roads and some other projects in the 27 LGA’s of the state,  that was awarded by all the  Imo State former Governors,which includes: Sen.Rochas Okorocha, and Chief Emeka Ihedioha.

 

The motion for the urgent cancellation of all contracts/projects which was requested to be revoked would be from the year 2011 to 2020, and was sponsored by the Hon.Arthur Egwin, of Ideato North and four (4) other lawmakers who collectively called on the Governor, Sen.Hope to revoke all contracts awarded by the past Imo Governors from 2011 to present.

 

On Tuesday, March 31st 2020, the IMHA member for Aboh Mbaise, Hon.Eddy Obinna, called on Gov.Hope Uzodinma to as a matter of urgency appoints IMC Chairmen of the 27 LGA’s of Imo State.

 

That motion according to Hon.Obinna would assist in the fight against the current dreaded killer Coronavirus disease that ravaging the global society.

 

The motion was ably supported by Hon.Prince Obinna Okwarra, member for Nkwerre LGA.

 

Also, the motion was supported by the member for Obowo, Hon.Barr.Kennedy Ibeh.

 

Hon.Ibeh, who leaded his voice called on the Governor (Executive Arm) of the State to with immediate effect constitute a temporal Transition Committee Chairmen in the 27 LGA’s pending when the LGA polls would be conducted.

 

Speaking still at the plenary,  Hon.Anthony Emeka Nduka,for Ehime Mbano,described Imo State as an APC State and should be for the general interest of Imo people as he asked the Governor appoint persons to be in charge at the various Imo LGA’s.

 

Others who supported the appointments of the TC Chairmen,includes:  Hon.Chiagozie Nwaneri, of Oru-East, Hon.Heclus Okoro, of OhajiEgbema.

 

The member for Nwangele, Hon.Chyna Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, moved a motion to checkmate hike of prices of food items and other commodities in the markets by some uncompassionate traders and was supported by six (6) other House Members therefore called on the Governor to set up taskforce against such ungodly acts.

 

 

Iwuanyanwu’s motion was supported by Hon.Ekene Freedoline Nnodimele, for Orsu State Constituency.

 

Instead of our people to be compassionate to one another,we now sold our consciousnesses.

 

He described the money gotten from hike of food items as “blood money”. Because we do not know how long the COVID19 will last. We must ensure stable food prices and other materials with taskforce who would regularly visit places to checkmate the ugly activities.

 

The motion against hike of items was supported by the Njaba State lawmaker, Hon.Amb.Mrs.Uju Onwudiwe.

 

Hon.Onwudiwe pleaded that people should have conscience, as she advised the govt.to be fully involved into agricultural farming  for food products in surplus for Imo State people.

 

Hon.Dominic Ezerioha, for Oru West, in his words, expressed satisfaction to support the mover of the motion against price hike of items.

 

Ezerioha, while speaking at the plenary condemned the hike fuel stations operating in the state.

 

He said sanitizers given to the LGA DAG’s for distribution were not shared.

 

Hon.Mrs.Ngozi Obiefula, for Isu State,  in her words,supported the hike of prices motion, even as he urged the Govt.to

 

 

The member for Ihitte Uboma, Hon.Micheal Onyemaechi, aka Crown, called on the masses to Stay At Home,but the Governor to ensure palative measures.

 

Hon.Kennedy Ibeh, for Obowo, who supported the motion, advised the Governor to establish platform (donation bank) where some wealth and prominent Imolites to begin to make contributions to aid our people for the procurement of relief materials into fight against COVID-19.
