- Nnodumele, Onyekanma suspended
At the earlyy hours of today, Monday, Nov.8th, 2021, about 19 members of the Imo State House of Assembly, IMHA, successfully elected the member representing the people of Obowo State Constituency, Rt. Hon Kennedy Ibeh, as the new speaker of the house.
The legislative affairs took place in an emergency sitting shortly after the impeachment of the former speaker, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, for forgery and high-handedness.
The house, therefore, frowned at what they tagged as the fake resolution that triggered the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker, Rt.Hon.Amara Iwuanyanwu, of Nwagele State Constituency, which occurred last Tuesday by the Orsu State Constituency member, Hon. Ekene Nnodimele.
The lawmakers described the action of the removal of the Deputy Speaker, via a convened emergency session which addressed what they tagged also as deceit and thereby restored the sanctity of the house.
The members further unanimously suspended the former speaker, Rt.Hon. Paul Emeziem, representing Onuimo State Constituency, Hon.Ekene Nnodumele of Orsu State Constituency and Hon.Okey Onyekanma, of Mbaitoli State Constituency and adjourned till 19th of November for legislative business.
