Imo APC State Congress: Emergence Of Dr. Macdonald Ebere As Chairman, Matters Arising

The Nation-wide State congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that took place last Saturday, October 16th, 2021, has come, gone, and now become a political history in Imo State for those who love politics.

 

The event in Imo State was monitored by many interest parties, correctly adjudged by independent observers, political watchers, and other relevant agencies as the best of all, most transparent electoral exercise judging by its absolute peacefulness, orderliness, massive turnout, and general satisfaction of members and stakeholders in the state.

 

The peaceful and orderly nature of the congress held in Imo State had some  Federal legislators like Senator Frank Ibeziem, of Okigwe Zone Senate, Chike Okafor, of Okigwe South Representative, and Princess Mariam Onuoha, of Okigwe North Representative,  as well as former Imo governors, former lawmakers present as members of the party.

 

The exercise witnessed eloquent testimonies to the facts that APC in Imo State under the leadership of Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma is united and truly enjoying the massive supports of Imolites.

 

To the consternation of some and joy of so many people, the smooth handover of the baton of leadership from the immediate past Caretaker Committee Chairman, Prince Marcellinus Nlemigbo, to Hon.Dr. Macdonald Ebere,  demonstrated unity, love, leadership sagacity, strength, and ability of the party to lead Ndi-Imo into the future of our collective dream.

 

All the members of the immediate past Executive Members were present as they congratulated their successors, as they told the whole world that Imo APC remains intact and united under Governor Uzodinma’s leadership, even focused on serving Imo people and not-self and would never allow division within its ranks.

 

The popular choice of Hon. Sir Macdonald Kelechi Ebere, Ph.D., as the Imo APC State Chairman has been described as strategic and timely, given the newly elected chairman’s credibility, antecedents, grassroots following successful leadership excellence in his rich track-records of service delivery.

 

As a scholar, Ebere’s resume (academic/experience in documentary or electronic evidence) shines with blistering and well embellished academic credentials as he holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree.

 

He has an ecclesiastic imprimatur given his esteemed position as a member of the Noble and Ancient Order of Knight of Saint John International (KSJI), Thus, he is a devout and devoted Catholic Christian.

 

Sir. Ebere is versatile, dexterous, and experienced in the management of human and material resources.

 

Hon. MacD, as he is fondly and popularly called by his teeming supporters and admires is sensationally a household name, not only in his native Owerri Municipal Council where he hails from but across the state and beyond.

 

He is a man of honour and great virtue, he is an ardent believer of divinity, humanity and so he has immeasurable respect for human dignity.

 

As a core politician, MacD knows his onions and inclines to constitutionalism and constitutionality even as he promotes dialogue, quality debates, and rule of law.

 

He was at different times, a Local Government Chairman of Owerri Municipal, Special Assistant to the Imo State Governor on Local Government Affairs, Senior Legislative Assistant in the National Assembly, and lecturer at Imo State University (ICEP) as well as the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO Ext. Service).

 

He was also a General Manager, Business Development at the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Zaria,  during which his indelible track records of results delivery and strategic achievements remain reference points to this day.

 

In view of his capacity to deliver and his avowed inclination to serve the public, he was deservedly appointed the General Manager of  Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO) Imo State, at the inception of the present Senator Hope Uzodinma administration.

 

Macdonald Ebere,  also proved his mettle and astutely displayed his understanding of the environmental problems of the state and their lasting solutions.

 

He also introduced changes that positioned Imo towards becoming the cleanest State in the country.

 

He has never failed in any assignment given to him or he has undertaken.

 

This is the caliber of leader Imo APC has identified to lead the party at this time, knowing fully that the political party is the conscience of the government in power, having a lot to do in shaping the character of the administration in terms of policy drive and project delivery.

 

Ebere, is a multi-talented person,  upward mobile, and tenacious political activist with over 27-year-experience in government relations, legislative duties, academia, human capacity development and is veraciously a signature of excellence in the art of human and material resources management.

 

The joy of our teeming members across the state, especially the youth population at the emergence of Ebere, as State Chairman of the ruling party, stems from the fact that he is a dynamic young man with overt leadership capacity who has positively impacted many Imo youths in various ways and as a role model.

 

Our Chairman obviously represents a bridge between the younger generation and older one.

As it is, the new Imo APC State Exco has a good blend of seasoned and tested public servants like Hon. Matthew Omegara, who emerged Deputy Chairman, Engr. Greg Madu, the State Secretary, Hon. Ikechukwu Umeh, as the  Organizing Secretary and Hon. Mrs. Ifeoma Ndukwu,  who emerged as the Woman leader, whereas Hon.Comr. Hyginus Udoka Iwueke,  was elected as the Imo APC State Youth Leader, amongst other members of the State Working Committee who were duly elected as the just-concluded State Party Congress in Imo.

 

Almost 70% of the State Exco Members are young, vibrant, and energetic.

 

Incidentally, these youthful Exco members have been tested and tried in various areas of life and are eager to deliver results.

 

These young leaders will be guided by the older men and women in the group.

 

It is worthy of note that Governor Hope Uzodinma, since taking over the reins of government in 2019, has always demonstrated his desire to empower Imo youths in various ways and give them opportunities to showcase their potential. By ensuring that the majority of the state exco members are young people, the Imo APC under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodinma has made a statement to the world that the youth of our dear state are leaders of today and not just tomorrow, as the saying goes.

 

In doing this, the governor has challenged his colleagues in other states to give their young generation opportunities to show the stuff they are made of.

 

This rare opportunity and benevolence of their governor is such that cannot be taken for granted.

 

The Macdonald Ebere led state executive committee in line with the governor’s admonition is ready to build a new party that is attractive, inclusive and harmonious for all and sundry to pursue and fulfill their individual and collective political aspiration.

 

Our promise to Imolites remains that we will not fail to serve our people in line with their desires and aspirations.

 

We are excited that Governor Hope Uzodinma is already on course to becoming the next good thing to happen to the state after Dee Sam Mbakwe of blessed memory.

 

The achievements of the shared prosperity administration are everywhere across the three geo-political zones of the state.

 

This is despite of the fact that since 2019, Imo State has virtually been on the siege with one crisis or the other.

 

However, the ingenuity and creativity of our governor in bringing life back to normal in the state have remained unmatched.

 

We urge Imolites to put all their political differences aside and work with our governor to salvage Imo for our collective good.

 

Imo is our only home and there is every need to put the interest of the state ahead of any other interest or consideration.

 

Once again, I call on all Imolites to keep faith with APC and rally around the party for our collective benefit.
