IGP Tasks Officers To Step Efforts On Internal Security

IGPThe Nigeria Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase has called on the Plateau state command to step up efforts towards ensuring that Crimes in the state is reduced to the bear est.

The IG made this call while on a maiden visit to the Plateau state command to strengthen Officials and men of the Nigeria Force to be combatant in handling insurgency in the country.

He reminded them that dismantling of check points on the high ways is a federal government order that must be obeyed.

He added that the re introduction Stop and search should not be taken as an avenue for you to start extorting and harassing people on the high ways, stressing the present  government is zero tolerance to corruption and will not tolerate any form professional misconduct.

He assured them of adequate and prompt repose to their welfare as well as regular training to enable them meet up with the modern ways of policing.

He encourage them to be Intelligent driven to be able to put a line between civil and criminal cases that are brought before them so as to avoid unnecessary litigation.

Adding that keeping suspects in their custody for a long time without good reason is equally unacceptable.

“The President is passionate about your welfare and is determined to give you all it takes to enable you carry out your duties effectively”.

The Inspector General of Police , revealed that 36,000 police are currently undergoing promoting courses in 37 states of the federation.

He assured the Nigerian police of his passionate concern on welfare of the ranks and file of the force.

Arase who also visited to Plateau state police command to interact with them on the challenges of insurgency also meet with Hausa/Fulani and natives of the state identified with numerous security challenges bedevilling Plateau state command and express passionate appeal on the welfare of the police officers.

He promised to deliver on mandate encouraging the force to discharge its function without any bias mind.

Earlier, the Commissioner of police, Nasiru Oki said plateau like any other   states in the north central geo- political zone has been facing series of security challenges.

He said the challenge in the south zone of the state where every family has a retired senior army officer has been witnessing proliferation of arms.

He said some of the challenges confronting the command is lack accommodation for the officers.

“The command is in need of additional area command in the Plateau central Zone; we also need Mobile squadron as well as a Transit camp for transfer officers.
