Igede Didn’t Endorse Any Candidate For Jos North/Bassa-Chief Douglas

The Highest Traditional title Holder of the  Igede Speaking Natives of Benue State residents in Plateau State ,Chief Douglas Icha Achala of Igede 1 has denied the endorsement of the All Progressive Congress ,APC, candidate, brahim Baba-Hassan that their tradition and practice don’t allow their people to endorse any politician but to vote individually for a credible person best on his track record of achievement.

Chief Douglas stated this in an exclusive interview in Jos in reaction to the youths endorsing a candidate which is against the practice of the Igede people .

He debunked that they’re yet to endorse any candidate and we have none, as you rightly said they’re youth they are children so it is not our duty to endorse any candidate and like you sent a child and someone gave him biscuits so as a father you can’t deny that but we don’t endorse politicians.

According to him, the leader of Igede here on the Plateau we have not endorsed anybody and we can’t do that without the concept of the elders’ knowledge and we vehemently reject that whoever did that are just boys that like to lick sweat thing.

He frowned that when people speak about an elder it doesn’t mean that someone who has grey hair but my emphasis is that white or grey hair doesn’t make you an elder person.

” unless I forget you see them with white hair that can’t make them automatic elders in Igede land they are not elders and they’re not leaders but just, we the Igede people don’t endorse politicians but when someone comes to sell his candidature to us we carefully look at his credential may be individually we can decide to vote that person.

We can’t endorse a candidate that we believe we are Republican people so we didn’t endorse any person for sure the fact that boys claim they endorse Rt .Hon.Ibrahim Baba-Hassan there is the level of sanction awaiting them for working against the practice of Igede tradition and culture “, he said.

Chief Douglas it is wrong for them to wake up to endorse a candidate without adequate consultation with the stakeholders before embarking on the wild goose chase .

We advise that no candidate should start dancing that the Igede have endorse him for elective position our people don’t endorsed anybody and we said no candidate should claim that our community have endorse him/her for any seat.

Chief Douglas called on all eligible Igede voter residents in Plateau state to vote for candidate of their choice whenever they see leadership potential in any candidate they’re free to make their right choice .

He disclosed that any responsible candidate can’t go to the beer parlor to canvas for votes from them come to say they have endorsed him is unacceptable in the practice of Igede tradition.

Douglas reiterated that the biggest problem of Nigeria is that some leaders hide to present anti-people policy after their election they abandon the citizens to lick their pains.

He lamented that government should be concerned itself with security and how people will go to bed a sleep with their eyes close which is their basic function and don’t believe in this idea of hiding to grab power but employ Nigerian to vote for those that have humanity in the agenda.

Douglas pointed out that the current hardship experience in the country is one of the shortcomings in the policy that the government has failed to undertake the responsibility that they were voted into power to perform. The current naira swap continued to bring hardship to the people who make the policy appear as witch hunting how can you come suddenly this is not the first time Nigeria is changing currency.

He stressed that the government failed to allow the new naira note and the old one to run together concurrently then the apex that is the CBN will withdraw the old money gradually while they bring the new notes but this one that they set up a dateline policy and nobody take that draconian policy.
