Igbo APC Women Leader Sue For The Appointment Of More Women  By Governor Sule

An all Progressives Congresswoman leader of the Igbo fulcrum in Nasarawa state, Obioma Igwe AKA Madam Dollars has appealed to the state Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule to consider more women in his subsequent appointment of Commissioners, Senior Special Assistant, Special Advisers and appointment of Board members.

 

Madam Dollars disclosed this during an exclusive interview in her office, interior decorations in Lafia.

 

She said the passionate appeal became imperative while considering the population of women and their contributions towards the Nasarawa State project.

 

“If you consider and appoint more women you are empowering the nation” she added.

 

Obioma Igwe averred that the appointment of more women into the State Executive Council would also encourage the participation of more womenfolk in politics.

 

She further harps on the need for women to actively participate in politics instead of allowing men to dominate the political space of Nasarawa State.

 

Describing the State as a man-dominated state, citing an example with the composition of 24 members in the House of Assembly as well having 13 men as Local Government Council Chairmen, with just one woman as Deputy Chairman and fragment as Councilor out of the 147 electoral wards.

 

As the State celebrated her 25 years of existence, created on October 1, 1996, by the then late General Mohammed Sani Abacha, Madam Dollars hails the founding fathers of the State for standing firm for the actualization of the “Home of solid minerals”.

 

She said the State has passed through a string of progress in almost all spheres of human endeavor, Obioma Igwe confirmed that she was in the State since 1997, which was a year after creation.

 

Commending Engineer Abdullahi Sule for keeping the State united especially in the area of security of lives and properties of the citizenry.

 

She affirmed that Nasarawa State is one of the States with ease of doing business, She also extended the gesture to the administration of Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Aliyu Akwe Doma, including the two military Governors for their immense contributions to the development of the 25 years old State.
