The people of Ndokwa East witnessed an influx of top politicians on Saturday as Delta State gubernatorial aspirant; Senator Ifeanyi Okowa stormed the community with his entourage.
The governorship hopeful first visited the Palace of the Obi of Aboh, Obigwu II to intimate him of his presence and tell him his purpose of visit. Okowa promised the King that the road linking to the various villages will be constructed. The Obi and other traditional rulers present all endorsed him to be the next governor.
Moving to the main venue of the campaign, one of the aspirants, Ossai Nicholas Ossai who is vying for the House of Representatives knelt down on the floor of the podium pleading to the crowd to vote for him. On his part, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairman, Edwin Uzor stated emphatically that the story that Accord Party is a branch of PDP is a lie. “Do not be deceived that Accord is PDP. No accord accordingly and do not let them use you for thuggery when their children are abroad in big schools”, Uzor stated.
Senator Okowa who mounted the rostrum to campaign asked the supporters to stand by him and vote for him. He reminded them that PDP has constructed the road leading to Aboh and will do more if he mounts the saddle of leadership. He promised to make youth empowerment and job creation his priority; a system where youths will no longer use cutlass to farm, as he will provide tractors to enable them produce more food and export.
While promising to build industries, he stated that there will be dedicated light to power them as well as build more roads and schools in Ndokwa East, while the road leading to the gas plant will be built once he is governor for according to him, a town that lays the golden egg should be treated fairly.
He pleaded for forgiveness from anyone that he has wronged in the process of his political journey, while he has also forgiven those who offended him. Okowa promised to take care of the physically challenged who have showed him solidarity by coming to all his campaign venue so far.
Those who were scared that they may be dumped after the electioneering period by Okowa were given a boost of hope as he promised to work with them, especially as they are going from door to door to campaign for him to win. “This one go be monkey dey work, monkey dey chop”, he stated, which drew applause from the jubilant crowd.
Moving over to Kwale where he visited the palace, he told the king that the receipt for the Emu-Abraka road has been received by the NDDC. At the Oleh Stadium where the rally held, Okowa who spoke to the people at exactly 3:03 pm described himself as a processed politician and not an accidental one. “I am not an accidental politician. My blueprint has been there and people are already working on it. I am not saying this for politicking; what I say is what I do, that is why they call me Ekwueme”
