The Provost College of Nursing Science, Lafia.Mr.Solomon Zari has promised to take the former School of Health And Midway, Lafia to the next level before he will exit as the rector of the College when his tenure expires.
In an exclusive interview, Zari dedicated the scores of breakthroughs made in the College to the doggedness of the Executive Governor of the State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule.
According to the Provost, “The first achievement recorded was the upgrade of the institution from School of Health and Midwifery.
He listed another greater and recent breakthrough to securing full accreditations of eight courses which he reeled out to include core programmes which are Basic Nursing, Basic Midwifery at the Higher National Diploma level while the 8 course are 1.Anatomy and Physiology (GNS 111) 2.Foundation of Nursing (GNS 112) Introduction of Nursing (GNS 113), Use of English (GST 111) , Applied Physics (GST 112),Applied Chemistry ( GST 113), Microbiology (GST 114) , Behavioral Science (GST 115).
He confided that the College which Governor Abdullahi Sule recently upgraded was amongst the fastest growing health institutions in the country.
Another milestone achieved by the State Governor, according to the Provost includes the recent approval to commerce Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes , which he described as history in the making.
“With the approval, OND successful students will henceforth apply through the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board for their HND programmes, He added.
The Provost called on suitable candidates seeking for admission at the College to take the advantage of the new innovation of online admission which a candidate must passes through JAMB.
On the recent advert online for the sales of admission forms, The Provost called on suitable candidates to be watchful and mindful of scammers.
“The sales of admission forms of College of Nursing Science, Lafia is fake”.
“We don’t sale admission forms , Urging the general public to be vigilant by reporting such matters to the College or security operatives “
He applauded the Governor for giving express approvals of activities of the College of Nursing Science, Lafia, employment of more and viable manpower which he described as the backbone of the College.
“Governor Abdullahi Sule has left an indelible imprint in the sands of time in the College which was below the sea level”. He added.
The Provost also commended Engineer Abdullahi Sule for the timely maintenance of the College.
He however listed some of the challenges faced by the College of Nursing Science, Lafia to includes acute shortage of logistics that will transport students to duty post at Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital or excursion at Jos.
“College of Nursing Science and Midwifery are using one bus and the only bus has been overstretched,” He said.
Other challenges according to him are infrastructural deficit, obsolete library facilities, Laboratory and lack of auditorium.
He however hinted that additional management team were appointed, He said the appointment of Deputy Provost Academic, Deputy Provost administration, Bursar is another feat recorded within the shortest possible time.
