I Will Focus On Empowering And Enriching Fishing Communities, Unlocking Our Potentials-President Fisheries Cooperative Federation

The President of Fisheries Cooperative Federation of Nigeria Limited, Mohammed Alhaji Laminu has averred that he unlocking the potential of the Association by working closely with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources so as to usher in a new lease of life for its members.
He gave the hint during his inauguration at Jabi Lake Resort, Abuja, The venue of the National Delegates conference, saying he believes in the power of synergy, adding that his administration would accord utmost attention to how to revolutionize the Fisheries and Aquaculture industry as well to promote the interest of its members at times.
Continued that will work tirelessly to empower the Fisheries Association and enrich all coastal as well as ensure prosperity, sustainability, and social justice through strengthening the Cooperative foundation.
The newly inaugurated President said his administration would also foster unity amongst members as well as facilitate access to credit and financial assistance for members to improve their infrastructure, purchase new equipment, and invest in sustainable practices
He however buttressed that he will ensure that there is comprehensive training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of members as well as to create an enabling atmosphere to adapt to changing industrial dynamics and technological advancement.
Laminitis Alhaji Mohammed promised to ensure a sustainable fishing practice, which he said will protect aquatics he however added that his reign will advocate for fair market practice and enhance members’ collective bargaining power in negotiating prices and contracts with buyers.
Encourage research and development to explore innovative technologies and methods that enhanced resource management and optimize fish yields, as well to collaborate with Local and International organizations to create an enabling environment for the development of fisheries and aquaculture value chain in Nigeria.
The newly elected President of the Association further stated that he will alongside other executives champion policies that would foster entrepreneurship and support for the development of value added activities such as processing ,packaging, marketing, exchange and export of fish products.
He however maintained that he will implement responsible fishing techniques that will minimize obnoxious fishing practices that will reduce habitat destruction and promote species conservation.
Mohammed Alhaji Laminu added that he would encourage research and development to explore innovative technologies and methods that enhance resource management and optimize fish yields.
The newly inaugurated President buttressed that he will work hand in hand with Local and International organizations to create an enabling environment for the development of the fisheries and aquaculture value chain in Nigeria.
According to him, “I understand the significance of a thriving fishing industry to the economic growth of our communities, saying he will champion policies that would foster entrepreneurship and support the development of value added activities such as processing and export as well promote sustainable aquaculture as a complementary and environmentally friendly source of fish production by ensuring diversified income opportunities for cooperative members
I’m committed to improving the livelihood of all members of our cooperative and the wider fishing community as well to secure access to social amenities such as potable water,Primary Healthcare facilities ,Basic education and amongst others.
The President said he will work assiduously with government agencies by establishing a platform for regular dialogue ,inviting input from fisher folks ,their families and Local stakeholders to make decisions that reflect their needs and aspirations.
He finally averred that he will provide leadership that ensures fisheries cooperative becomes a force to be reckoned with ,locally and globally ,saying that is the only way that will ushered in a new dawn for prosperity,sustainability and social justice .
