I Constructed Iza-Agwatashi Bridge To Boost Socio-economic Activities-Chairman Obi

The Executive Chairman of Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Honorable Joshua Zekpowudo, opined that the construction of Iza-Agwatashi Bridge was meant to enhance the socio-economic activities of the area.

The Chairman stated this during an exclusive interview with Universal Reporters at the Local Government headquarters.

He said constructing the multi-billion naira bridge would link communities and enhance the Internally Generated Revenue of the Local Government.

The Chairman described the Iza-Agwatashi bridge as a legacy project he embarked in Obi 2 constituency.

While reacting to the allegation of inflation of the contract sum from N46m to N76m, The executive Chairman described the claim as unfounded by his political opponent who did not mean well to his political career.

According to him, “I don’t take decisions single-handedly instead a decision that has to do with finances must pass through the Finance And General Purpose Committee of the Local Government, He added.

Commenting on his second as the Council boss, Honorable Joshua Zekpowudo affirmed that he will do more if elected to serve for another term.

” My second-term ambition is for God, and I wish to do more for my people if given a second chance”.

On the discovery of Oil in Obi Local Government, The Chairman confided the proposed drilling of oil in Obi as a blessing to the Local Government, The State and the nation at large.

Saying the development made by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation was a good effort, which he said will woo investors to Obi.

“Very soon Nasarawa State will join the link of Solid Minerals State that would get 13 percent derivation,” Said Honorable Joshua Zekpowudo”.

The Executive Chairman has appealed to Youth in Nasarawa State to shun participation in the nationwide protest.

Giving instances of the last Endsars protest which plunged the nation into turbulence, Endsars protest still remains in the memory of victims whose valuables were destroyed.

“Again the protest in Kenya still remains fresh in our minds as well the Pakistan protest and amongst other countries of the world”.

“The outcome of the proposed protest will not be for the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians, He affirmed.

On the communal skirmishes in Keana, The neighboring Local Government, The Chairman confided that a proactive measure was taken to avert the escalation of Tiv and Alago land dispute.

Urging the people of Obi Local Government to embrace dialogue at all times for the interest of peace, unity, and progress.

“Is quite an unfortunate situation, you are aware of the land dispute that erupted in Keana, We embarked on intermittent expanded security meetings for the interest of peace”.
