A former diplomat and a onetime Governor of Adamawa State, Amb James Barka has refuted claims that he has defected to the People’s Democratic Party PDP. Amb Barka who is a member of the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative PCNI said his membership of the All Peoples Congress APC was unequivocal.
Most importantly the former Ambassador to Malaysia said he was confident in the renewed national leadership of the party to entrench a culture of inclusivity. He therefore asked the general public to disregard numerous news reports that purportedly claimed he had defected to another party after a visit by Adamawa State PDP Chairman to him on the 10th of August.
He remains a bonafide member of the APC, he said. He made the clarification in a statement released by the Head of Media and Communications of the PCNI Alkasim Abdulkadir
Amb. Barka further restated his support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari especially the prioritization of numerous social investment programs and the infrastructure drive in North East.
Amb. James Barka was sworn in as Acting Governor of Adamawa State in February 2008 and handed back power to Gov Murtala Nyako on 29 April 2008 after the former governor had won the re-run election. He has been a member of the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative since the Committee was established in October 2016.
