How Skye Bank MD Tokunbo Abiru Demolished 200 Houses Of The Poor In Lekki After Buying Judgment
The rich do not show mercy and the few that do merely do so out of pity. The world they believe rotates around the centre of their finger and can do that, which their heart conceives, even to the poor. The Managing Director of Skye Bank, Mr. Tokunbo Abiru, in aiming for the sky chose to expand their world in the most brutal manner ever done by a corporate institution on Thursday in Lagos State.
Poor families in Awoyaya Ibeju, Lekki, will be sleeping under the rain beginning from tonight as Tokunbo has brought in bulldozers to bring the houses numbering over two hundred. Some of the land owners who reached out to SecretReporters narrated their tales of agony, as they watched their entire live savings pulled down in a twinkling of an eye.
According to our sources, they bought the lands three years ago for the sum of N1.5 million from the Abule parapo family which comprised of ten family units in Awoyaya Ibeju Lekki LGA of Lagos state. Out of the Ten Unit, about six of the family units came together to sell the landed property which is located behind the famous Greenspring International School to interested buyers after they won the land dispute case from initial land grabbers.
There was a twist as unknown to the six family units, the other four family units had obtained a court judgment behind the scene and went ahead to sell the entire property and the court judgment to Skye bank which rushed to the Lagos state government for the authentication of the lands in their company name with the judgment, alleged sources.
SecretReporters gathered that Skye bank however contacted the lawyers of the property owners to come over for ratification and demanded that they should pay another sum of over N4 million to N8 million naira for the ratification of each plot.
This online news medium learnt that residents and landlords of Abule kporakpo had also told the bank on the need for a more cost effective negotiation for which the back accepted, only to discover that Skye Bank had another plan to demolish all the properties worth over N400 million Naira. On the orders of Tokunbo, over three hundred security operatives were moved into the place, with most of them mounting guard to stop any sell out of the information about the demolition.
“Residents are being harassed and phones being ceased by the security personal comprising of police and army which the bank hired. The community has been thrown into a state of pain as the demolition continues”, stated a source among the house owners. “Our pain is if only they did not deceive us over the negotiation. If only they had allowed us to at least take our roofs and other expensive materials…”, wept another landowner who has nowhere to go. The two hundred and ninety eight acres of land is now valued at the minimum price of N5 million per plot. The Corporate Communication Director of the bank, Mr Rasheed Bolarinwa did not respond to our calls or text message, to enable us get their reaction before we went to press.
