Drama eschewed in Plateau Southern Senatorial Congresses last Saturday when Senator Nora Ladi Da’atu escape the wrath of her constituents who pelted her as she was whisked away through the backdoor.
The All Progressives Congress, APC accused her of neglecting them as they alleged she distanced herself completely as a member, representing Plateau South in the national assembly.
According to sources at the congress, Daduut was pelted and booed by members of her All Progressives Congress APC, at the Qua’an Pan Local government Congress of the party for not measuring up to the expectations of the electorates.
It was alleged that the Senator stormed the congress venue allegedly wanting to change an earlier arrangement which did not go down well with her, according to and an APC stalwart Mallam Usman Namu, one of the congress attendees.
“We have made our arrangements as party members, with all concerned stakeholders, and it seems that the arrangements did not favour Senator Da’adut and she decided to manipulate the process.
“Party members were not happy with her stand, in the first instance, we elected her and she neglected the party, just for her to come and said she wants to put up her political structure and we said no,” he said.
Usman Namu said angry youths booed the senator at Doemak where the congress took place.
“Refused to appear at the stakeholders meeting, where consensus was reached, but later joined when everything has been agreed, new officials returned and affirmed,” he said.
According to another source, the vehicle of Senator Da’adut was damaged, adding that but no one was injured.
“On arrival, Senator Nora Daduut discovered that the election had already taken place, but demanded that she be allowed to talk, which she was given the opportunity.
“As she speaks to members of the party, including appointees of Governor Simon Lalong, walked out of the venue, especially stakeholders all walked out,” he said.
He said having seen that most of the stakeholders walked out, some members of the party began shouting and booing the Senator.
“They began to pelt her until her security detail whisked her into the vehicle, they damaged part of her Toyota Camry car,” the source said.
Telephone calls placed to the Senator’s phone did go through, as her phone was unreachable at the time of this report.
