Yesterday Plateau House of Assembly Speaker, Hon Peter Azi escaped impeachment when he tried to dodge a deliberation on the issue of the extension of tenure of the Local Government Area Chairmen or their dissolution.

Due to his refusal to make any comment concerning the issue, he incurred the wrath of his colleagues in the House.

As gathered by this medium the Speaker’s act however met with inflexible and strong disapproval by majority of the members of the State House of Assembly a situation that led to a rowdy and disorderly session at the House.

Universalreportersng.com learnt that at the House’s plenary the member representing Mikang Constituency, Hon. Na’anlong Daniel Gapyil was the one that moved the motion for the dissolving of the LGA interim committees’ chairmen, a motion that was supported by Simon Kudu who represents Bassa Constituency.

But, the House Majority Leader, Henry Yunkwap, wanted an extension; a move which this medium gathered was supported by Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan.

In calling for votes by the Speaker, 18 of the lawmakers voted for dissolution while only one person voted against and one person abstained to vote.
