The former Governor, Sen. Jonah David Jang on Wednesday was absent in Court due to sugar level and blood pressure health issue and that stalled the trial.

According to advice from his Doctor after examining his health conditions with the report of High Blood Pressure Rise up stated that he needed one week to rest.

The former Governor is standing trial over alleged money laundering and misappropriation of public funds main for artisans, traders, CBN trainees, market women who are described as end users and the beneficiaries of the loan.

The 1st and 2nd accused defendants counsel, SAN, Robert Clarke told the court that, we have submitted our medical reports to the honorable court based on the advice of the Doctor that the health condition of the first accused this morning was worse, so he needed a rest to recuperate.

” I visited my client, Sen Jonah David Jang, this morning and saw that his health was not in good condition, where they took him for treatment “, he explained.

Robert Clarke said, my lord with the greatest respect to this honorable court, Jang was rushed to Hospital this morning for his sugar level and I made a quick visit to the hospital and I saw him, we had a brief discussion with the medical director who confirmed to me that they are making effort to reduce his sugar and blood level.

However, Clarke maintained that the request for 3 days to enable him to stabilize, adding that they are very sorry for the inconvenient caused, as he said that he can’t be here due to the circumstances he is inside.

“We have discussed with my learned friend this morning of the situation but he was complaining shaking his head, we have a situation which is to give and take, we need an extension of one week for him to stabilize.

Meanwhile, the prosecution of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs earlier frowned at the medical reports that there was nothing to show for his health conditions before this honorable court.

However, my senior learned colleague has never requested for any adjournment date before, but there is nothing to convince the court that he was sick knowing his sugar was rising in the past two days he should have consulted his Doctor earlier.

He said that the doctor advised him to go and rest can’t justify my lord, let his counsel be bold to tell this court that, if someone is granted bail on crime, I don’t think he has the reason why he should be absent in court during sitting, he is not here to come and grindstones or do work.

Jacobs added, “I don’t want to trouble an elder, I will concede to the request for this case to be adjourned.

The presiding Judge, Justice Daniel Longji then adjourned the sitting to 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th of December, 2018 for the continuation of hearing.

He said we don’t take a joke over his ill health because everybody can be sick any day.
