Yusuf Buhari, the son of President Muhammadu Buhari, have been involved in a power bike crash in Abuja.
The crash reportedly occurred on Tuesday night while he was racing with a friend in the capital city, leaving him with a head injury and multiple fractures.
“Yusuf was trying to overtake his friend when he suddenly veered off the road and skidded. He lay there unconscious for a while before the first lady was alerted,” Daily Nigerian quotes family source as saying.
“She ordered that he be immediately rushed to Cedarcrest Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. We are more concerned about the head injury than the fractures. As I speak to you, Yusuf is unconscious.
Garba Shehu, spokesman of the president, confirmed the incident, saying the president’s son broke a limb and had a head injury in the accident which occurred in Abuja.
“Yusuf Buhari had a bike accident last night around Gwarimpa in the federal capital territory, Abuja,” Shehu said in a statement.
“He broke a limb and had an injury to the head as a result. He has undergone surgery at a clinic in Abuja. He is in a stable condition.
“The President and his wife, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, are thankful to Nigerians for the good wishes and prayers for their son.
“May God reward you all.”
