How Armed Security Agencies And Vigilante Group Invaded 300 Year-Old Village In Nasarawa With Bulldozers, Killed 2

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Monday sympathized with the people of Sadi village in Kokona Local Government over the death of two aged people while many were rendered homeless following the invasion of the ancient village by joint security conveyed of soldiers, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the vigilante, Daniel Ogazi, the lawmaker representing Kokona East at the Assembly has revealed.

Hon Daniel Ogazi, the member representing Kokona East raised the issue under a matter of public interest on how the people of Sadi village were manhandled by an individual whose identity is yet unknown to Sadi inhabitants.

Ogazi appealed to the leadership of the House to as a matter of urgency take a proactive step to address the ugly situation his constituents are going through.

*Our people are presently displaced to other Local Governments due to the invasion of Sadi, who are predominantly peasant farmers and hunters and have settled for the past 300 years but to our surprise some security with bulldozers stormed the village and demolished all structures in the ancient village”.

Danladi Jata’u, a lawmaker representing Kokona West said the act is inhumane treatment

Hon. Musa Ibrahim representing Doma South (NNPP) says the same is about to happen in Agbashi and its environs.

He averred that something urgent should be done to salvage those affected by the inhuman treatment.

“Whether the land acquired by the unknown person is criminal and should be treated with disdain”.

Owing land for mining or farming is not a soft landing for displaced people, an entire village not minding the population of people there, Hon.Musa Ibrahim added.

Hon.Jacob Kudu representing Nasarawa Eggon East said as a matter of urgency, the Government State should intervene in an act he described as criminal.

“Even with the relocation of the Federal Capital Territory, the then administration used diplomacy to relocate people not high-headedness”.

Hon.Peter Ibrahim Akwe representing Obi 1, (PDP) said the State Government should come up with a law on the true ownership of land, recalling an incident where a farmer and herder lost their lives in a fiasco in Obi Local Government recently.

Hon.Mohammad Adamu Oyanki representing Doma North (PDP) in his contribution said something urgent must be done to bring succor to the affected community.

Hon.Lanre Bawa representing Akwanga South said many people are in trauma following the invasion of their land which also affects the education of their children.

Hon.Abel Bala representing Nasarawa Eggon West (PDP)Also condemned the act.

Bala expressed displeasure over the invasion and said something must be done to nip the ongoing in the bud.

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Hon.Balarabe Abdullahi Ibrahim described the perpetrators of the act as evil merchants.

“Because they want to acquire the whole village, you see mothers and children running helter-skelter still they carry out their dastard act.

The Speaker while reading the resolution of the Assembly sympathy with the people of Sadi community over the unfortunate inhuman act.

He also condemned the act and urged the State Government to as a matter of importance provide relief materials as a temporary measure to cushion their pains

The Assembly also urged the State Governor to investigate the matter with a human face.
