On Tuesday, thugs invaded the meeting venue of the Reformed PDP group led by Dr. Umar Ardo in Adamawa , thereby causing injuries to three persons who were among the people at the meeting.

As learned by Universal Reporters, the venue of the meeting where the thugs attacked was the Yola residence of Dr. Umar Ardo, who is also the converser of the Reformed PDP group (R-PDP).

According to Ardo, the thugs destroyed and smashed the screens of vehicles parked at the venue, the residence of Dr. Ardo.

Speaking on the incident Ardo said the thugs were sent by the government to stop the meeting, which he said was the inaugural get-together of the duly constituted R-PDP.

Dr. Ardo said, “We were holding our meeting here in my house when suddenly we heard a loud sound at the gate as some hoodlums, about 15-17 of them crashed in holding machetes, rods, stones, and sticks, saying that the state government was not in support of the meeting we were holding.

“Before we knew it, they started hauling stones and those other things they were holding, injuring us and breaking windows of my house and smashing glasses and windscreens of cars.”

“It’s because we do not support the PDP leadership. We reject the AT Shehu leadership because it was not constituted legally. I said this from Day 1,” Dr. Ardo said.

According to Ardo, he said the police responded to his distress call and rushed over to disperse the thugs,.

Confirming the development, spokesman of Adamawa Police Command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje said DR Ardo has personally lodged an official complaint about the attack on his person and his political associates while in a meeting at his house.

Nguroje said the commissioner of police Mr. Audu Adamu Madaki immediately directed the Area Commander and the DPO Karewa division to investigate the matter to arrest whoever is behind the dastardly act.

“The police have since swung into action and anybody caught abetting acts of brigandage and political hooliganism will be brought to book as provided by the law of the land to serve as a deterrent to others,” Nguroje said.

According to Ardo, about six vehicles were destroyed and damaged during the incident.
