A 54-year-old man has been remanded at the Jos prison over the alleged rape of a 4-year-old minor whose mother is the same sibling as the alleged rapist.
According to the suit Iholden at High Court of Justice of Plateau State in the Jos Judicial Division Holden at Jos with suit NO, PLD/J88C/2021 between the Commissioner of Police Plateau state command against Mr Yohanna Danladi the accused is standing trial of rapping his step sister daughter of Four (4) years old in Lahir in Bakin Kasuwa of Mangu Local Government Council.
The Prosecutor, Barr. O.S.Okpuru narrated how the accused committed the offence on 16 January 2021 in Mangu LGA of Plateau State, She alleged that the defendant defiled a 4-year-old girl.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant lured the girl into his room by telling her (Esther Danladi ) of the same address as his house to buy something for him and was sexually assaulted, he pulled off her trouser and had canal knowledge of sexual intercourse with her while carrying her on his laps against her will.
She informed the court that the victim was seriously brutalised in the vagina, resulting in bleeding and stitches in her vagina.
Okpuru said the defendant confessed to the crime, but while the matter came up for hearing today denied that his statements were forcefully taken by Police Inspector Venshak Moses and Emmanuel Andrew that it was not true as even as the victim that was raped had various degrees injuries.
He noted that the offense contravened Section 208 punishable by the penal code Law of Plateau State, 2017
The plea of the accused was taken and he was still in remand.
Justice Nafisatu Mohammed has adjourned the 26/01/2023 for the final adoption of written addresses, consequently, the defendant returned back to prison, and their step-sister complained of threats to her life by family members for instituting the suit.
The defendant says that he was a businessman whose mother In-law had been battling with ill health conditions himself, and the wife always left home early to meet up hospital demands.
