The Member Representing Shendam,Mikang, and Quaanpan Federal Constituency, Hon Komsol Alphonsus has disclosed that the kick-off grassroots youth sports development was to encourage and promote the unity of oneness amongst the youth and harness their potential for local and international sporting activities in Plateau state.
Komsol Alphonsus made this disclosure at Kurgwi LEA primary school venue of the tournament, which kick-started with at least no less than 40 teams in Quaanpan LGA.
He welcomed all the soccer participants to the Komsol Alphonsus Longbap unity cup which is organized for the 40 grassroots ward teams across his constituency of Mikang, Quaanpan, and Shendam to harness and improve local sporting activities in the areas.
According to him, the aim of this tournament is not far fetched as the name implies Komsol unity cup emanating from my conscious desire to reunite and strengthen the bond between our communities that have existed and shared socio-ethnic cultures for almost a century now, that despite our existing challenges and grievances we will still have reason to socialist and smile at each other.
He stressed that the tournament is meant to remobilized the teaming hard-working, energetic youths within my constituency, to showcase their exceptional talents and apply their energy positively, especially in these perilous times where we observe untamed insecurity in different parts of the country as a result of youth restiveness.
Hon Longbap Komsol explained further that the game of football has proven unequivocally to achieve unity effortlessly even among a multiethnic nation likes ours, where people, young and old sheath their differences, laugh and shake hands in support of either Plateau United, Arsenal, Chelsea, or our national team without asking whether it’s, Pan, Goemai, Youm, Piapung, Kanoem, or Tehi a Muslims or Christian who is playing.
He disclosed that the 1st position Sharron Car, 2nd Wagon Car, and 3rd is Tricycle including two pajat motorcycle SL by encouraging those loser teams to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and be joyful in their conduct.
Hon Longbap Komsol applauded Governor Simon Lalong contributions in promoting sporting activities in Plateau state through positive leadership.
He charged the youth to eschew violence and embrace peaceful coexistence in the domain by shunning politics of bitterness because all politicians are members of one family, we should learn to love one another no matter the level of provocation.
The match was a kick start between Shendam Jesters Versus Namu Pillar FC with the traditional fathers present to grace the tournament and promote the unity of oneness amongst their subjects to emulate.
