Hon .Davou Gyang Vows To Deal With Bottlenecks In Railway Corporation In Jos /Bukuru Transport System

The Plateau State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Davou Gyang Jatau has vowed to deal with the bottlenecks bedeviling the Nigerian Railway Corporation and set to commission Jos trains towards addressing the transportation problem between the Jos /Bukuru metropolis.

Jatau made this disclosure during the occasion of commissioning at Plateau Express Service in Jos .

He said Governor Caleb Mutfwang administration is fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of the state to ensure that the transport fare is affordable.

Davou reiterated that the election of the governor was a divine providence of a leader during the campaign days his Excellency always said” that one thing he saw was a leadership gap.

“A leadership gap that is what we have heard in the past years on the plateau. He was coming to bridge that gap. Of course, what is happening in the Plateau state today is a testimony of the fact that we have a leadership on the ground to reposition the state.

According to him, the transport sector would witness tremendous progress because the Governor came at a time when transportation became a dire need to Nigerians, not just Plateau state. And he did not rest on his horse.

We should have been, I mean, have commissioned the rail, the train services. Unfortunately, all of you are aware of the bottlenecks we had on the way. But the good news is by next week we will be sure of the date that we, these trains will start moving on a commercial scale.

This is the good news.

We will use them, once again coming from Abuja two weeks ago, going by road, I was with a colleague and we met two buses of the Plateau Express service with passengers stranded.

Those old buses, the Seattle Sharon buses. I called the GM to understand that right from that point by the grace of God, we will not be experiencing the breakdown of vehicles courtesy of His Excellency, Barrister Caleb Manasseh, he said.

We would now have an eye to make sure that there is a good turnover. There is a good turnover from this business.

This is a business that the government needs to generate revenue aside of  the overhead and all that you need it to surpass Land , Survey and Town Planning on  what they declared in the last month.

We want to assure you that with the synergy you are investing in the transport sector, we will have a way of competing with states that are leading in transport, such as Lagos, which you know, the biggest business you do in Lagos today is transportation.

We are trying as much as we can to make sure that the transport business on the Plateau to sustain the state in terms of revenue generation.

When the trains come on board, we will be exploring other routes of air services. From Plateau to the northeast and then to the southeast and the south sooner than later.

We want to assure his Excellency that no investment in the transport sector would be a waste. You would have reasonable turnover and good profit on every investment you make on the plateau.

We pray , We are asking that more attention be accorded to the ministry as you commission these buses, we hope that it will always be good on the plateau.
