The Traditional Ruler of Atta Ancient Kingdom in the Njaba LGA of Imo State, Eze Edwin Azike, was murdered by some persons suspected to be kidnappers.

It was gathered that his dead body was found at the Community market square on Friday morning, Dec.10th, 2021, after he was abducted on Thursday.

Sources from the Community who pleaded their names never to be printed disclosed that four (4) persons were also shot dead last Thursday in the same community after the monarch was kidnapped.

Those sources noted that “The Traditional Ruler of Atta Ancient Kingdom in the Njaba LGA, Eze Edwin Azike, has been murdered. His lifeless body was dumped at the Community market square and the villagers discovered noticed the sad action in the earlier hours on Friday morning. Azike was kidnapped on Thursday and thereafter, the community was invaded which led to the killing of (4) four persons.”

The Imo Traditional Rulers Council Chairman, Eze Emma Okeke, who is the Chairman, Community Policing in the State, said that the monarchs in the state were saddened by the killings of their colleague.

Okeke while speaking, describes the killing of Azike as an abomination.

The Chairman of Imo Monarchs, Okeke said that the Council was on Friday morning informed of the killing of the traditional ruler.

He said, “We have got the sad news about the killing of Eze Edwin Azike. This is abominable in Igbo culture. I don’t know why traditional rulers are being hunted like this. We are not politicians, we are only custodians of the culture of our people. We were informed on Thursday when he was kidnapped, only for him to be found dead, this morning.
