Two officers attached to Mile One Police Station in Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have been killed by yet to be identified gunmen, Daily Trust is reporting.
A witness said the deceased officers were shot dead while on a stop and search operation at Okija street in the area.
The witness said the gunmen, who were inside a vehicle, swooped on the deceased officers and shot them at close range.
The witness, who said the policemen were taken unawares, added that the victims died on the spot.
When contacted Rivers State Police Command Public Relation Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the story, saying the State Police Command is on the trail of the attackers.
