Gunmen numbering about 10 on Wednesday kidnapped the wife of former Kaugama Local Government Council Chairman, Alh. Ahmed Yahaya Marke, in Jigawa State.
The victim’s relative, Aliyu Ahmad, narrated that the gunmen stormed the residence of the former local council boss in Marke village on motorcycles.
He said the victim identified as Hajiya Fatima was beaten and tortured before she was whisked away around 1:00am.
Aliyu explained that four of the gunmen, fully armed, entered the house while the remaining six gunmen stayed outside to monitor the situation.
He explained that the hoodlums contacted the family but didn’t announce the ransom.
The Spokesman of the state police command, ASP Lawan Shisu, who confirmed the incident, added that police are working with other security agencies to trace the kidnappers and rescue the victim.
