Gunmen Burnt Down House Of  Ohanaeze Ndiigbo President, Set Umuguma Police Station Afire, Kill 2 Officers

Reports reaching us indicate that on Saturday Morning, March 19th, 2022, some armed men alleged to  be unknown gunmen have remembered the  Umuguma Police Divisional Station in Owerri West LGA, Imo State, as the Police  Headquarters in that Local Government was set afire at the late hours of the night.

Information, however, revealed that the hoodlums who set the building of the station ablaze, razed down the structure, killing two (2) police personnel while some police vehicles were set illuminated by fire.

In a related development,  news sources told Our Reporter that some unknown gunmen also razed down buildings at the country home of Prof. George Obiozor, the  National President of the apex socio-cultural organization in the Igboland known as Ohanaeze NdiIgbo.

Meanwhile, all efforts reached to communicate with the Imo Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Micheal Abattam, to confirm the whole news proved abortive as his telephone lines were not connected during the time of filing this report.

It could be recalled that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Isaac Akinmoyede, was in Owerri last Friday, March 18th 2022, and was received by the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Hussaini, on what the AIG tagged as a familiarization visit.
