Gunmen Attacks Headquarters Of Police In Kanam LGA, Kills A Police Officer

At least one police officer was killed, while its building housing Police Headquarters in Kanam Local Government was torched, while several facilities worth millions of Naira and seven guns were carted away by suspected gunmen.

Information available revealed that the group of suspected unknown gunmen in the early hours of Monday morning attacked the Divisional headquarters of Kanam local government Area of plateau state leaving no less than one inspector dead and carted away ammunitions.

The member representing Dengi constituency at plateau state House of Assembly, Hon Shehu Saleh Yipmong confirmed the incident to our correspondence in a telephone interview.

He said, this morning he received emergency call in his constituency headquarters that some groups of miscreants came to police station and open fire to the building leaving not less than one person dead and vital guns and ammunition were carted away.

Hon Yipmong condemned the attack in its totality and appeal to the general public to provide the police with some useful information that will lead to the arrest of those culprits.

He lamented that peace has gradually return to Kanam Local Government Area until this unfortunate challenges which broke up causing confusion and hatred.

According to him, of recent the headquarters continued to record strange challenges which the matter was rise on the floor of house as matter public important.

Yipmong confirmed that the Dengi constituency headquarters was the most peaceful but we found this attack very disturbing and unfortunate to communities were peace, love reign.

He called on the citizens of Kanam LGA to be law abiding people by giving out useful information that can unravel the whereabouts of miscreants bridging existing peace.

The PPRO confirmed that the commission of plateau state command had traveled to the scene in Kanam LGA.

He stressed that commissioner will brief the media when he is back from Kanam.
