Gumel Emirate Council in Jigawa state has suspended two District Heads and three other Village Heads for the negligence of duty.
Announcing the suspension on Wednesday shortly after the security meeting, held at Gumel Emirate Council, the Emirate Secretary Alhaji Murtala Aliyu said the suspended District Heads include the District Head of Jeke, the Kachallan Gumel Alhaji Sani Ibrahim, and Dan Furyan Gumel Alhaji Ismaila Muhammad of Shabaru District respectively.
Other traditional title holders include the Village Heads of Mai Zuwo, Garin Danga, and Yan Baro all Gumel Emirate.
The secretary said the Emirate at its meeting has resolved to take drastic action pending police investigation report.”
According to the Emirate Secretary, he said the fault of the accused Village Heads is that they did not report the suspected security problems in their areas to the emirate council on time till it became worse.
However, the secretary commended the Jigawa state police command and all other security agencies for raiding the suspected kidnappers’ hideouts which resulted in their arrest and uncovered guns and ammunition, motorcycles, and a large sum of money.
It would be recalled that, On the 27th January 2022, Jigawa State Police Command has paraded the suspected 14 kidnappers with their families at the police Headquarters during an organized intelligencece-led-raid code-named “Operation flush out” in three criminal hideouts within Sule Tankarkar local government area which is under Gumel Emirate.
