It appears there is a looming crisis in Bauchi state judiciary following a petition to the Speaker, Bauchi state house of assembly over the appointment of state chief judge.

The petition which was made available to this medium titled: the need to avert looming catastrophe in Bauchi State Judiciary urged the Speaker not to recommend Justice Rabi Umar as substantive Chief Judge.

The petition which was issued by a group known as Concerned stakeholders/whistle blowers cautioned the Speaker to reject the  recommendation of Umar alleging judicial impropriety and corruption, divorcée as well as that she is as an indigene of Kogi state.

According to the petition, Umar Umar is not the most senior Judge in the judiciary therefore does not deserve the appointment as CJ saying it’s a norm that such appointment be given base on seniority.

The group stressed that never in history where a junior judge is given such exalted position to the detriment of his superior except in the dark days of Abubakar APC administration.

The statement described Umar as an agent of PDP government whose dealing in the area of justice dispensation was said to be a script of Yuguda and his agents especially the sack of the then secretary to state government, SSG.

“As payback to PDP administration, Umar was said to have release thugs ahead of 2015 election apparently to wreck havoc to supporters of APC even when she was aware they were awaiting trial in her desperation for power” said the petition.

The concerned group therefore urged the Speaker to urgently use his office to intervene on the matter to avert a looming crisis in the arm of justice.
