A group, the Movement for the Survival of Plateau People (MOSOP) has called for the arrest and prosecution of an Islamic leader , Sheikh Yahaya Jingir over an alleged inciting statement credited to him ahead of the governorship poll in Plateau state
In a joint statement issued in Jos, the president of MOSOP, Solomon Bako and General Secretary, Ibrahim Audu described the statement by Sheikh Jingir as a threat to peace in Plateau state
It would be recalled that Sheikh Jingir, while recently canvassing for support to his preferred governorship candidate was quoted as calling on the Muslims to vote for the APC candidate, Dr. Nentawe because for him, that will be a win for Islam on the Plateau
In another video which has gone viral on social media, the Islamic leader also described the Berom ethnic nationality and other Plateau tribes as killers even as he called on Muslims in Jos North North not to vote for the PDP candidate, Barrister CALEB MUTFWANG labelling him as a Berom Candidate.
The Movement for the Survival of Plateau People said the statement by the Islamic leader was a threat to the peace in the state, adding that security operatives should arrest and prosecute him.
While maintaining that the people of Plateau state cannot afford to extend their suffering and bad governance brought upon them by the APC administration in the last eight years which made them to clamour for change in support of the PDP governorship candidate, the group also urged the state government not to fold its hand and watch some people use religion to cause trouble for the state under the guise of politics .
