Grandfather Remanded For Raping A 5 Year Old Girl In Jos North LGA

An Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama area of Jos Metropolis has remanded one ‎Isaq Mukaila in a prison Custody over the case of alleged attempt to rape a five year old girl.

The presiding Judge, ‎Yahaya Muhammed Kanam who decided on the case said there is no sufficient evidence to warrant granting of bail to the accused person as demanded by the defending lawyer.

He said although the police had earlier granted bail to the accused person on the condition of health problem, “there is no evidence before this Court to prove that the accused is ill as claimed by his Counsel“.

The Counsel to the accused person had told the court that the said Isaq  ‎mukaila is not physically fit to stand trial before the Court and demanded for bail which was refused by the Judge on the gravity of the offense.

A child Right activist who is prosecuting the case right from the police station to the area Court said, “There is no going back on the case“.

According to Madam Aisha, such cases of rape among Muslim Community in the state are now rampant, stating the need to penalize such offenders.

She explained that although there have been frantic efforts by some “powerful individual“, such acts should not be con doled by the society.

The accused person who pleaded not guilty on the attempted rape case was later take a Jos Prison until 19 January for further hearing into the case.
