Governor Sule To Revivify Comatose State Own Companies

Governor Abdullahi Alhaji.Sule to march words with action has confided the readiness of his administration to revivify State owned comatose businesses, which he said reviving them would boost the economy and to provide employment opportunity to the teeming youths.

 

The Chief executive hinted this while declaring Nasarawa Entrepreneurs Summit open,a summit anchored by SKDC Global Link Limited.

 

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Barrister Abigail Waya disclosed this, stating that the government would enroll a lot of initiative to empower the people of the state.

 

He affirmed that the summit is organized at the right time when the government is working hard to revive its ailing businesses to reposition them in order to develop the economy of the state.

 

“The summit organized by SKDC has come at the appropriate time when the state Government under my watch is working towards reviving so many of its ailing businesses.

 

“We as a Government would also create and enabling environment for young entrepreneurs to strive and remain in business for the overall development of the state”, said Governor Sule.

 

He further maintained that the state is endowed with a lot of mineral resources, but technical and managerial skills are lacking and the government would partner any organisation with the view of bridging the link.

 

He noted that recently government assembled a team of professional experts who are to serve as advisory council for Investment and Economic Development in the state.

 

The Governor however added that Government would also fecilitate easy access of credits and grant to enable intending entrepreneurs set up business and sustain it.

 

In a goodwill message, the Nasarawa State Executive Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue  Mr. Ahmed Yakubu Muhammad said the initiative for the summit was a pointer to the fact that entrepreneur in the state regardless of their statues are mindful of adding value to the development of the state economy

 

Stella Ajige, Nasarawa State Coordinator of SKDC, said that the programme was aimed at developing the capacity of the entrepreneurs with the view of assisting them identify opportunities to create wealth.

 

It would be recalled that from 2011- 29th May,2019 ,Governor Engr.Abdullahi Alhaji.Sule inherited a comatose State ranging from dearth of facilities in public school.

 

The worst side of the then administration under governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura was the killing of all State owned companies ranging from Nasarawa Investment And Property Development Company (NIPDC), “Nasarawa On The Move” before the erstwhile governor renamed it to “Nasarawa Express”.

 

Other ailing companies to be revived also include the comatose Lafia Hotel, Conference hotel, Nasarawa Publishing Company, the publishers of Nigerian Newsday and Nasara Newspaper.

 

Also onlookers pleaded with the State Government to revivify the three dysfunctional companies, Nasarawa Sacks and Packaging, Akwanga, Nasarawa Soap Industry.

 

Other sources of revenue that were intentional killed are Nasarawa Meat and Dairy Factory,Karu

 

More needed to be done by Governor Sule to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the State, the only is to relocate traders to the multi billion naira Muhammadu Buhari International Market, Karu.

 

The State Governor should also make sure that traders are relocated to the multi billion naira Kwandare International Market as well Akwanga market for business to thrive in the State.

 

It was reliably gathered that the high cost of rent in the markets foist traders and distributors to occupy shops ,this was attributed to the activities of middlemen.
