Governor Sule Presents N517.5bn 2026 Appropriation Bill  To Nasarawa Assembly

…speaker says 2025 budget stood at 75 percent performance

Nasarawa State Governor,Engineer  Abdullahi Sule has presented the 2026 appropriation  bill of  N517.539,050,910.77 billion for 2026 to the State House of Assembly for approval.

The 2026 budget tagged Budget of Strategic consolidation, the Governor lauded the State Assembly for the support as well his Deputy,Dr.Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe and members of the State Executive Council for their commitment.

“In line with our development agenda, the 2026 Budget seeks to consolidate ongoing infrastructure projects to enhance connectivity and economic competitiveness.

” Expand job creation through industrialization, SME support, and agricultural productivity, Improve the quality and accessibility of basic healthcare and education services.

” Intensify urban renewal efforts and strengthen environmental management among others,” he said.

According to the Governor,  the total expenditure budget for fiscal year 2026 is structured into  N212,789,330,249.07 only. This represents 41.12% recurrent expenditure.

“And a total capital expenditure of  N304,749,720,661.70 representing 58.88%,” he said.

Sule said that the ratio of the recurrent to capital spending shows another improvement in his administration’s  commitment to investing in capital spending.

Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House while receiving the budget today in Lafia, assured of effective  synergy and speedy passage of the budget proposal for the growth and development of the State.

“Budget allocation based on main sectors is as follows:

Administrative Sector: N108.70 billion, Economic Sector: N221.84 billion

Law and Justice Sector: N16.09 billion

Social Sector: N170.92 billion.

“Further breakdown into sub-sectors shows that:

Infrastructure-N 157.80 billion representing 30.49%

Education                            –  N92.91 billion representing 7.95%, Science, Technology &

Digital Economy – N4.92 billion, representing 0.95%, Governance, Security &

General Administration – N142.96 billion representing    27.62%, Finance, Investment &

                Trade                    – N39.19 billion representing       7.57%

Others are Health            –  N37.19 billion representing 7.19%, Agriculture &

                Water Resources             –  N31.85 billion representing      6.15%, Environment & Community

Development    –  N28.32 billion representing      5.42%, Information &

Tourism                –  N18.65 billion representing      3.60%, Legislation- N16.59 billion representing   3.21%

” Law & Justice-  N16.09 billion,representing        3.11%, Youth & Sport

Development    -N 10.01 billion representing       1.93%, Humanitarian & Women

Empowerment- N2.50 billion representing 0.48%,” he said

The Governor said that his administration remain committed to enhancing  capacity to serve the people of Nasarawa State.

“Ensuring that our progress is sustainable and benefits future generations. To achieve this, we have established six (6) strategic agencies in key sectors to drive modernization, institutional strengthening,

“Economic growth, public safety, and regulatory frameworks. These agencies include: Nasarawa State Fire & Rescue Service Agency, Nasarawa State Education Trust Fund (NASETFund), Institute of Leather & Science Technology, Doma, Nasarawa State Multi-Door Court House (NSMDC),” he added.

Governor Abdullahi Sule affirmed that the State Government was update in the payment of New minimum wage to civil servants in the State.

He said his administration in the last six and half years was able to construct a total of 690km roads,both Urban and rural roads,the Governor added that his reign was able to cleared huge amount of entitlement of retirees up to 2012

Responding, Rt. Hon. Dr Danladi Jatau, the Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly assured of speedy passage of the budget proposal for the growth and development of the State.

” I want to reassure you that the 7th Assembly under my leadership will continue to uphold the highest standards of legislative excellence. 

“We will remain steadfast in our mandate, and we shall provide the necessary legislative backing to ensure that government policies and programmes are implemented smoothly, effectively and without hindrance, so that our people can continue to enjoy tangible democratic dividends.

” Let me state clearly that this 2026 appropriation bill will receive the diligent and timely attention it deserves,” he said.

“In this regard, all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) must rededicate themselves to efficiency and compliance with all budgetary provisions. This is non-negotiable,” he added.

He also called on the people of the state to continue to promote peace, unity, brotherhood and mutual respect, irrespective of political , ethnic and religious affiliations.

” Let us continue to support His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, as we work together to build the Nasarawa State of our dreams,” he said.

Dr. Jatau urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to comply with all budgetary provisions,Adding that the State Governor has placed Nasarawa State on the global map of development.

He however arrested that Nasarawa State was one of the most peaceful State in the country,he further added that the executive and legislative arm of Government has a cordial relationship between themselves.

He called on members of the executive council not to see the oversight function of the Assembly as a witch hunt, the Speaker also announced that the budget presentation marked his second year in office as Speaker.
