Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has called on Fulani elders to caution their children on the danger of rising waves of drug addiction to a drug known as ice.
The State Commissioner of Science and Technology, Honorable Gabriel Agbashi who represented the State Governor at the emergency and expanded security meeting organized by the Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government at Rukubi expressed displeasure over the unabated cases of attacks by Fulani youths.
Saying Fulani youths are at the risk of running mad as the situation persist, He explained that something urgent must be done by parents to avert the ugly outcome of drug addiction in no distance time.
“But Fulani and Tiv are from Congo , and this crisis you started from Congo for years is yet to be abarted”.
Urging the
two brothers and sisters to leave peacefully, As he opined that no nation or society under rancor and acrimony progresses.
“Tiv people who are predominantly peasant farmers are proud of their farm as the way Fulani pastoralist are proud of their cattle”.
He commended the Chairman of Doma Local Government for the prompt and expanded security meeting held at Rukubi where the majority of the Internally displaced Persons (IDP’s) are taking refuge.
The Andoma of Doma, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Oga, also appreciated the Local Government Chairman as well as sue for peaceful co-existence.
The Chairman, Doma Local Government Council of Chiefs was represented by the Secretary to the Royal Father,Musa Addra, The Sardaunan Doma.
“There is a need for both Fulani and Tiv extraction to make some amendments for peace to prevail in the land”.
Before the commencement of the two hours meeting a representative of Jamma’tul Nasril Islam (JNI) from Doma, Mallam. Tanko Rilwan who read from the Holy Quran reminded the displaced Persons on the importance of peaceful co-existence as people.
He, however, admonished humanity on the danger of shedding the blood of human beings and the punishment that awaits the perpetrators of such heinous crime before God Almighty and the laws of the land.
Also, Pastor Francis Agabi, who was in the entourage of the Executive Chairman of Doma quoted some verses from Genesis, Saying, He that shed the blood of his fellow human being, His blood shall be shed by someone also.
The district Head of Doka community, Mohammed Saleh Abubakar, in his testimony, confirmed that communities of Ajimaka, Gidan Rai, Ankoma,Shuwa, Doga, Gosh,o and Shimshima are under siege by some Fulani youths using dye to frighten Tiv people within the communities despite emergency meetings with their elders.
As he unmasked that children from the compound of Namaji are those humiliating Tiv Doka axis,He in addition averred that it was purely a reprisal attack and escalation of crisis that started from Tatario in Benue State.
The district Head of Rukubi, Hassan Angulu told the gathering that those harassing Tiv’s within the area are from Namaji compound.
The district Head of Akpanaja, Mallam Shuaibu Inarigu attested that the majority of Fulani youths are under the influence of hard drugs.
The representative of Miyetti Allah in Doma South Senatorial district, Bello Inusa, who spoke on behalf of Fulani herders, expressed displeasure over the way and manner the name of Fulani was mentioned or has been attached to negative activities.
“What the Andoma of Doma used to tell us is that we ” Fulani herders ” are also Alago people”.
He warned his kinsmen to ensure that there is everlasting peace in Doma land.
A Tiv cleric,Pastor Shaghaor Slyvenus told the gathering that the recent skimishes started in Benue State and escalated to Akpanaja, Doka, Rukubi, “We are Tiv people from Nasarawa’ State not Venue State and the ongoing crisis started from Dau’du.
The Osakpa of Akpanaja, Alhaji Musa Abari Agye, in his submission, said Fulani herders must write an undertaking that they would not attack any Tiv extraction from Doma South again.
” People, especially Tiv IDP’s should go back to their abode to continue with their farming activities”.
The team leader of the military stationed at Ondori who did not want his name in print gave the assurance that the axis would be safe for all and sundry.
“There was no attack close to our camp. What is happening from Ondori was that we keep on seeing people moving with their luggage for days now”.
The Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Area, Honorable Jonathan Okuba Addra expressed satisfaction with the presence of Mammoth crowd despite short notice of the meeting.
He commended the team of military stationed at some black spot for their timely response to emergencies as he also condemned the escalation of crisis that emanated from neighboring Benue State.
The Chairman appealed to elders and Ardo’s of Fulani herders to bring their youths to a peace meeting so as to get first-hand information for themselves.
“Most of the skirmishes were fought by youth but not elders, and it is the youth who are under the influence of hard drugs, He insisted.
The Executive Chairman gave the IDPs hope that the law would prevent such ugly occurrences any longer, directing heads of communities to form a formidable committee that would cooperate with the security operatives.
