Governor Al-Makura Signs 2016 Budget Into Law, Says We Inherited A Collapsed System In 2011

Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has revealed that the 2016 budget of pragmatism would only focused on projects that has direct impact on the lives of its citizenry, the Governor averred that his administration will only accord impetus to budget that can add value to the commoners.

Al-Makura stated this while signing into law the 2016 budget at the Government House, Lafia, he assured the people of Nasarawa State that budget of pragmatism is not a budget for elite rather meant to touch the ordinary man.

“No aggrandize project in 2016, we will focused on projects with direct bearing on the commoners, the Governor assured the people of the state of the full implementation of this year’s budget. He however maintained that the implementation of the budget is in accordance with the law.

Al-Makura affirmed that his regime would accord greater premium to the completion of all ongoing projects in the state, saying the state Government would not embark on white elephant projects.

The reiterated that 2016 budget size of 79bn would be focused on Infrastructure, Education, Health, Agriculture and amongst others, while shedding more light on the state of infrastructure when he assumed office, Al-Makura said he inherited Nasarawa in a shamble.

” In 2011 when we took over power we met virtually a collapsed system perturbed with infrastructural decay in all sectors, saying the stats was completely regarded as a rural state”.

The Governor who described Nasarawa state as an education disadvantage promised to accord prior attention to basic education, he also promised to give ardent attention to Girl-child education.

In the health sector the Governor said prior attention will be given to maternal and child care as well preventive therapy, In the agricultural sector the Governor asserted that greater attention would be given to mechanized farming.
