Governor Al-Makura Earmarks N60 million For Training And Retraining of Teachers-Executive Secretary NSUBEB

Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has earmarked money to the tune of N60m for the training and retraining of teachers at primary and Junior Secondary Schools in the state.

The executive secretary of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Yakubu Ahmed Ubangari hinted this in an exclusive interview, he said the bold steps of the chief executive, Tanko Al-Makura was aimed at reinvigorating teacher’s capacity for optimum performance.

He explained that the N60 million was for 2016 training and retraining of teachers cut across the length and breadth of the state, the further asserted that the incumbent regime in the state has accorded impetus towards the enhancement of primary and junior secondary schools.

“You are aware that a lot has been achieved in the education sector which range from building of classrooms and provisions of furniture over the years”.

The executive secretary opined that desk and chairs would be distributed to schools soon, he maintained that the concerted effort was to addressing the shortage of furniture’s that looms in some schools.

Speaking on the N8.6billionn counterpart of state and the Universal Basic Education Commission, Ubangari buttressed that the fund would be channeled towards erecting new structures and completion of abandoned projects.

“Emphasis would be given to remodeling of shabby projects executed by some contractors in the first phase of Taal model schools”.

Commenting on the shortage of office accommodation in NSUBEB, the executive secretary averred that N30m was voted for the building and expansion of offices at the new office accommodation at the former deputy governor’s office.

Yakubu Ahmed commended governor, Al-Makura for appointing a committed and a seasoned administrator.
