Gombe PDP Cautions Its Members On Peace By Kalshingi H Jedidah Gombe

In preparation to the forth coming general elections The People’s Democratic Party in Gombe has called on its members to eschew from electoral violence and avoid comments or activities that may incite the people against each bother. According to them, people must coexist peacefully irrespective of political differences to build a strong democratic system in the country.

The State PDP chairman Mr Shuaibu Baba Sabulu who spoke with journalists in an interview at Ayaba, Billiri Local Government of the state, expressed that the PDP has resolved to commit itself to peace as the only panacea to meaningful development despite pressure and controversies attached to the current political struggle in the state. He said, the ruling party has accorded peace as the safest way through which it would achieve its goals.

Sabulu further said, there is need for Government, the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, political parties, politicians, and all stakeholders to see the need for safety of the people first especially during the elections period. According to him, all Governments, political parties, or any form of organisations would not have been in place without the people.

The PDP chairman who was in Ayaba to attend an annual religious meeting organised by Women Fellowship of Evangelical Church Winning All ECWA, also called on the women to be vanguards of peace in their homes especially by training their children to become responsible citizens in the society,  he said women have a vital role to play in ensuring peaceful conduct of elections in the coming general elections, Sabulu also called on the women to get their Permanent Voter’s Cards and ensure that they vote credible leaders in the forthcoming elections.

In the same development, Chairman, Billiri Local Government Mr Iliya Sanya has called on the people to be security cautious as the region is currently facing security challenges. He said the community has been enjoying relative peace and that there is need for them to pray for continuous peace in the state and the country at large even as strive towards peaceful coexistence among the different religious groups in the community.

He also appealed to the women to continue to work towards building a better society by giving proper training to their children in their various homes. According to him, the PDP lead government has been working to ensure it empowers the women as very important group in the society.

Sanya also called on all the people to keep their PVCs and pray over the forth coming election, as well as play their role in ensuring that only credible leaders are elected into office after 2015 elections.
