Gombe APC Suspends Chairman, 17 Others Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

By Kakshingi H Jedidah Gombe

Gombe state chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC has suspended its chairman alongside 17 party officials and stakeholders over what it termed as anti party activities, and betrayal of the party.

Announcing the suspension at a press conference at the party secretariat in Gombe, the state party secretary Alh Sallau Manu Pindiga stated that, the alleged anti party activity was responsible for the defeat of the APC’s gubernatorial candidate Alh Inuwa Yahaya at the 2015 polls,  alleging that, some of the state executive members of the party decided to dive into the alleged anti-party as a result of their random defeat during the governorship primaries.

According to him, on receiving the report of the misconduct from various party wards within the state, the party set on a 7 man committee to investigate the matter and to suggest a line of action. Adding that, the committee after compiling its results issued letters of equerry to the indicted party members on the 16th of May of 2015, which the erring members failed to reply. He said the decision for the suspension became necessary following the failure to reply the queries issued by the committee.

“On getting the report of the “so-called” APC members and stakeholders a letter of query were issued to the indicted executive members but none of them replied to the query, this is in itself a gross misconduct that calls for serious disciplinary measures.” He added.

Also according to him, prior to the decision, the committee reviewed the situation and forwarded its recommendations to the party National Executive Committee for a disciplinary action which was later approved.

Pindiga further stated that, the committee had after consultation with State Executive members of the party decided to suspend all erring members pending on the final decision of the National Executive Council. And that, the State deputy chairman of the party shall serve as acting chairman.

Speaking to Journalists on the matter, the suspended chairman of the party, Doho denied the allegation, he maintained that, the party had worked hard to maintain unity and progress and that it must remain one party working for democratic development of the country.
