Full List And Names Of 115 Students Of College Of Education Akwanga Expelled Over Impersonation, Examination Malpractice-Fact Finding Report

Information available to universalreporters.ng uncovered that a total of  One Hundred and Fifteen  (115 )students of the College of Education, Akwanga, Nasarawa state were expelled over examination malpractices and other related offences.

The 131 page “Fact Finding Committee report uncovered that the number was from the assumption of office of the incumbent Provost Dr. Rebbeca Isaac Umaru that is from October 2014 to October 2017.

Out of the 155 students, two were expelled for impersonation during examination while 113 were caught with materials related to ongoing examinations while some students were caught swapping answer booklets and others nab for writing carryover courses for friends and relatives.

Others expelled according to the Committees report were nabbed browsing answers on their cell phone and some using hand out respectively.

The Committee maintained that the expulsion waspart of its uplifted mechanism to checkmate erring students whose actionsconstitute misconduct.

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura in a concerted effort to ensure discipline as well to brought in new grounds to the tertiary institutions, Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia, College of Education, Akwanga and College of Agriculture, Lafia set up an investigate panel for Nasarawa polytechnic and Fact Finding Committee for the other two institutions.

The governor concerned with the dwindling of education in the state coupled with his commitment to revolutionize the sector set up committee saddle with the responsibility to examine and appraise the general administration of the College of Education, Akwanga as regards to the roles of the Governing Council, the Management and the Academic board

The Committee is also saddle with the responsibility to determine the sources of funding of the Institution in terms of both Internally Generated Revenue, Grants and other Interventions including TETFUND, as well as applications of the funds and whether they are in conformity with financial Regulations and other relevant and extant rules and regulations.

To examine the financial management of the Institution including PAYE, VAT, Withholding Tax Development Levy and whether such deductions have been remitted to appropriate authorities in compliance with the financial Regulations ,tax laws and other extant rules and regulations.

The Committee is to also examine staff recruitment, qualification, staff Development policy as well as staff and students Disciplinary policies of the College.

To also examine admission policies of all programmes of the Institution from 2014 to October,2017 ranging from regular, part time and Consultancy and determine the level of compliance with the state admission policy  as well as the entry qualification requirements by the various admission and examination bodies whether the processes were abused.

The Fact Finding Committee is to also appraise the physical development and facilities available in the College.

To determine factors that led to the non-accreditation of some courses offered in the Institution; and to highlight any other matter incidental to the above Terms of Reference and make appropriate recommendations.

The Committee was inaugurated on the 2nd November, 2017.

The report unveiled that deductions from all sources were remitted to the appropriate authorities in compliance with financial regulations, tax laws and other extant rules and regulations.
