Fresh Killings In Plateau: Governor Lalong Appeals For Calm Among Inhabitants

The Plateau State Government has again assured citizens of the State that the State Government will do all that is necessary to guarantee the security of lives and properties in the State.

The Governor gave this assurance in the wake of two unfortunate attacks by unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen on family compounds in Kwata Zawan in Jos South Local Government Area and Gwol-Hoss Village along Makera in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State which unfortunately left scores of people death and wounded by the director of press affairs,Mr Nanle Samuel Emmanuel.

While appealing for calmness by all inhabitants of Kwata – Zawan, Gwol-Hoss and the surrounding areas of Jos South and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, the Governor ordered around the clock patrol of the area, adding that Security agencies has been mandated to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous crime.

Lalong directed the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and the Vom Christian Hospital where the injured are receiving Medical attention to give all the victims the needed medical attention at Government’s expense,

He calls all peace loving citizens of Plateau to be vigilant and report suspicious movements in their communities to Security Agencies in order to forestall future occurrences.

The Governor while also sympathising with the family of the bereaved and all victims of this dastardly act and further assured of the resolve of Government to consolidate on the steady peace that has returned to the State especially in this period of the yuletide which has been chosen by this merchants of death to unleash terror.

He reiterated that as citizens of Plateau stand together in the fight against those who do not mean the State well, victory is assured.

Our correspondent gathered that Zawan community, in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Sunday night was under siege as the unidentified gunmen attacked the people in the night.

The incidents according eye witness and owner of one of the IDP camps sheltering displaced persons from the North East, Mark Lipdo, said the attack left over 15 people killed.

“We received information last night that gunmen attacked Kwata in Zawan district of Jos South LGA, Plateau State. Fifteen people were shot dead, other casualties not yet ascertained,” he told our reporter.

The police Public Relations officer of the Plateau State Command  Abuh Emmanuel, said he was yet to be informed of the attack, promising that as soon as Division furnishes him with the details he will as well reach out.
